She seems to have the major points of an Austrian pinscher: size (30 lb), ears, coat and markings. But I know that Austrian pinschers are rare and we live in bush Alaska, also her former owners who got her as a puppy thought she was a mix, if so what would she be a mix of?
Having googled APs, as I'm not familiar with them, she doesn't look quite like the one I saw. She does look like a cross to me.
Hi Verity and welcome. Posting a photo on here is not a privilege as such, anyone who is a member can. If you go to the 'Your Dog Photos' section you will see the top 'thread' tells you how to 'post' a photo. Good luck and I look forward to having a looksie
Looks to me like what they refer to as a cur-dog in Cumbria. That's a dog that is a general farm yard dog, but not resembling a typical ISDS (International Sheepdog Society) registered Border Collie. These come in all shapes and sizes, but generally have a look about them that says 'farmyard dog'. This means that you could go on a tour of UK farmyards and find dogs that arguably resemble Australian shepherds, Piccardy Sheepdogs, the smaller Swiss Mountain Dogs, Kelpies, Huntaways (in fact you'd find plenty of kelpies and huntaways and crosses in UK yards) pinschers etc. There's a whole spectrum of farm yard and livetsock herding / droving / guarding / dual purpose vermin control and stock work breeds and types all over Europe and many similar breeds and types in the US. My guess is that your dog would fit into that broad group, rather than being able to be 'confirmed' as any specific breed or 'type'. I bet if you started googling 'loose-eyed herding breeds USA' or similar, you'd find a few look-alikes! I think she's lovely!
Some sort of herding dog does seem to be a strong possibility. We think she is gorgeous and has a great personality
