Sorry am replying to an old thread, but just wanted to say that longcoats can be shown in the UK if they have an undercoat (not all do), however you would be unlikely to win any prizes with a coated dog. Also if you breed a longcoat to a longcoat then you always get longcoated puppies. If you breed a standard coat to a longcoat then you can get a mix of standard and longcoat pups. If both parents are standard coat but one carries the longcoat gene then you can have the odd longcoat in a standard coat litter  Hope that all makes sense! I think someone has already replied regarding why whites are undesirable.

Here is my standard coat who I lost in 2002 :-( ...

And my longcoat - my "dog in a million" ...

I've just seen your other pics of Flame too, she is really, really stunning! I have always had longcoats, as I prefer them, not the half and half sort of "rough" coat, but the really long coats with the long ear hair like Cassie has.

thanks for all that info too, as I didn't realise you could actually produce long-coats with 2 adult long coats, I always thought it was just because the genes went a bit haywaire and threw out a longcoat in the litter :? Very interesting.

The dog you lost too was a beautiful dog, sorry you had to say goodbye to her in 2002, but hope she lived to a ripe old age like all of mine have, I've been very lucky to have had them all up to a grand old age of 16, quite something that isn't it! I hope the 2 I have now will be with me for as long as that if not longer

Wow! Love them:grin: Is Kaiser the black with the tan socks? She isn't a long-coat then? Cassie's coat comes down to the floor almost, and it's very very soft and fine with I might add, a thick undercoat too! Georgie (white one) is more longcoated than most, but his coat is nothing like Cassie's. I think Kaiser looks very similar in markings too, coz I can spot the sable on his chest? Lol! That's a fantastic caption line for that calendar too!

    Oooooo, there's my George:smt007 :smt007 :smt007 I'm a pushover when it comes to long haired whites:smt007

Ash, good to see you've posted a pic of the 'happy couple' ;-)

I have a long coat and a short. The short coat (Storm) is very small for the breed type. I'm almost sure she has something else in her make-up.

Both your dogs a beautiful Moobli, especially Flame:smt007

Hello, Thank you , I will tell him all your compliments. His name is Tyketto . He was a rescue dog. My vet and the rescue place think he is almost 2 but he acts younger . Any tips on keeping his coat nice ? And keeping him healthy. I hear Shepherds need specific foods , or oils in their diet. He is on a high grade dry food w/ can suppliments at the moment.

He looks in great condition. Whatever you are doing it is working.

If it's not broke - don't fix it!!!
