I've had Aussie breeders and trainers who own Aussies themselves never even question Jasper's breed - they had just automatically assumed he was the same as their pack from non-showing lines. Jasper actually almost identically resembles some working Aussies I've seen in pictures and in person, so I never assumed he'd be predominantly anything else - until these test results came in. I'm honestly not bothered in the least by his non-pedigree makeup (my other dog looks vastly different than the sheltie he's supposed to be, and I picked Jasper up as a semi-feral dog), but I am worried about the authenticity of the results themselves, and the money that I might have actually wasted on it.

But he could indeed be Mini Aussie... When I got him he was even 33 lb! (the extra 7lb is pure muscle, mind you).

This is a working Aussie that looks exactly like my dog in his summer coat, down to the very posture and gleam in his eyes: [IMG]

I own an Aussie myself and saw previous comments where people couldn't see any Aussie in him so wanted to post :)

I would take those results with a pinch of salt, some labs are thought to be better than others but I'm personally not confident they can accurately identify breeds and have regarded them as more of a gimmick.

Wow, that is like half the weight of my boy lol (he is approx 60lbs and carrying no extra weight, but then he comes from show lines)

Oh I have seen lots of pictures/video of working line Aussies, watching them work stock is amazing.

That's what I'm thinking! How many Belgian Tervurens and Rhodesian Ridgeback and wandering around rural Ohio? And how can one DNA lab have the DNA of all strains of all breeds? And then identify breed markers for all DNA samples that come in, all within a day?

Whenever anyone asks me about Jasper's lineage, I'll just call him a "farm dog."
