tee hee the only problem is pronouncing it 'errol' or 'url' (like the american) which kinda hurts my throat, but the good thing is you can't really shout it. He apparently never took food from anyones hand, so i made a batch of liver cake up, and boy did he go for that (know you the wide eyes and everything). Honestly this 'aggressive' dog, if they would see him in my house with 6 other dogs today and not a sound from him, they wouldn't believe it was the same dog. Just another case to prove that a dog can be a totally different character in a different environment. I gave him a bath this morning, and he loves the shower spurting on him, chasing it and digging a the plug hole... I know what you mean by JR's being a 'breed apart' they have a character like no other don't they. I think I am going to be one of those people who always has to have one (against her better judgement, but nevermind!!!)
He is certainly one lucky to dog to have you come into his life, you have already given him the love and care he needs, i understand how you felt in the field watching him. If you do decide to keep him i wish you and all your dogs so many happy years together. Why not call him Duke since you alread have a Prinz
After reading all these threads, i am nearly positive that my dog seker is half jack russell. I know for definate that her mother is a long haired terrier but we dont know the breed of the father as seker was abandoned on the streets. Seker is such a lovely dog, with a good temprement and such a wild character me or my partner would never be without her and we are so glad she is still with us today.
I've got a JRT and a JRT whippet cross and they are the best. The cross Jazz has saved my life on at least two occasions, so when I say I wouldn't be without her, I mean it. She's a star, but strangely enough for a JRT even a cross, she likes things that are small and fluffy, she'll stop the other dogs hurting them. Both are working dogs, so their recall is perfect, or it was until Fox went deaf. How many JRT's like water, Fox loves it and will go in if you don't watch her like a hawk, Jazz can't stand it and runs if she gets splashed Just wondering what every one else finds.
Post some pics if you can! Our JRT loves puddles, rivers, lakes, pools but won't go walking or to the toilet if it even looks like rain! He stands at the backdoor looking upwards and then at us as if to say "are you mad - I'm not going out in that!"
Oh yeah we call it the rain game, on several occasions have had to carry both dogs out, and far enough away from home that they decide they might as well go the toilet whilst they're out here, and that included the one that will then go jump in the canal.
My parents bred JRT's when I was a child, needless to say, the first dog I owned when I moved out was a JRT!!!
I started with Jacks (parsons) then I met poodles, if you think jacks are quick to learn you've seen nothing until you've trained a poodle! Becky
This is my brothers Jack Russel Jack. This picture is when he was a puppy. Hes 5 now. Sorry its abit small
I have a JRT and couldn't agree more. I had never had a dog before in my life, i had always been desperate to own one. Wasn't looking for a JRT, infact they never really did anything for me. I was looking for a cocker spaniel but fell head over heals for a little bundle of mischief JRT puppy. The first few months i wondered what the hell i'd done, but now am glad i stuck with him. He's the love of my life and wouldn't be without him. He's so nosey and has to help me do everything (help ). I love their personalities and love for life.
well i have 2 jrts and 3 prts amd i would not be with out them or comicale and very loyal. I love them to bits and hot get some more...lol

Heh!! Just joined this site and was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on what my dog actually is!! She stands about 2ft high and has thick hair - long on top short on tummy. She is mostly white with light tan markings. She looks like a Jack Russell but a very big one! What do you think? Jen
Heh everybody!! Still trying to identify what breed my dog is. Hopefully you can see from my profile picture... she is very Jack Russell like although stands the same height as a collie. What do you think? Jenna
