    Jack Russells

I may be very biased, however after having had 4 Cocker spaniels, I really do belive that Jack Russells are tops for me. I loved the Cockers with a vengance, when there time came to go i was devastated, but since having the Jacks I have realised that there personality is really somthing else. My Bitch (Pip) is like my Mother !!!!! watches every move I make Toby is like a spoilt child and sulks on a regular basis, Wesley is just special.
So for me Jacks rule OK

Would just like to say-JRT's are deffo the best!:lD
Russells really are a breed (well a type if we are being 'picky') apart! I have a westie x dandie dinmont at present too..and eyes on a Springer in the next 18 months or so..but i would never be without a Russell in the house, Poll is my own first Russell, but brought up with family member who allways had at least several for good measure, and bred the 'true working type; since before i was around!
Deffo a breed apart-Think the old saying "Can't live with um-Can't live without um" applys well to Russells:lol: Yes they destroy the lawn, eat everything in sight, have the ability to be optionally deaf, lack the want to return when off the lead, try n eat anything small n fluffy, quite often yap their heads off, are reknown for dissapearing off into holes and hedgerows and ignoring us totally...but what else would you want in a dog?!?! I mean life with a russell is hardly boring:lol:

Some more pics of our JRT..Polly.

My dog doubles as a meerkat - with all the long grass around at the moment (rain and sun(?)) and you know how they bounce around - he has to see every going on - hence the hind leg walk!

I totally agree with everything that has been said so far. My Millie is so quick and just one step ahead of everyone!! Patch is a little more laid back (probably due to being 7 years older than Millie). But they are true JRT's. Gorgeous!!!!!

REASONS TO GET A JACK RUSSELL TERRIER:

In the past few weeks our JRT has done the following:

    1. run away on a walk to chase rats
    2. rolled in dead bird on walk
    3. rolled in fox poo more times than i can count
    4. killed a baby bird in the garden by ripping its head off
    5. eaten our garden fence to escape to next door's garden

And people comment on how sweet and well behaved he is

I love jack russells. My little Milo is just the sweetest natured dog with everyone and everything, but does like to voice his opinion at times.
He loves agility, keeps that active brain occupied.
    Big dogs in small bodies.

Milo doing what he loves best.

this is so weird that this thread has started...

I always said that I would never have another russell, I love Prinz with all my heart and he is top dog (above me he seems to think) and has me wrapped around his little paw. But I hate how he gets to decide when he wants to do stuff! I also do obedience, and he knows so many tricks, but when I want to show off to some kids what he can do, he sits there and flicks an ear at me like he has no clue what I am saying... rather annoying.

Anyway, I have been known to rescue and foster the odd dog (12 now) before finding them homes. Someone at work said that 3 yr old JR had been left in a house that over the past year he has lived in, there have been 4 different owners come and go, and leave him with the next!!! The last couple moved in a few weeks ago and they now are finding him 'too much' and can I take him away.

To cut a long story short, it was awful and he has been walk and choked on a chain and his neck is raw and hairless. He was 'aggressive' with dogs and was too much for them to handle. He has never been off the lead (they lived in a flat with no garden, and he ducks when you try to pet him and he jumps when a door is closed. He has obviously had a horrible start in life. I took him home and I think I may be in love with him.... he is tiny and seems to know I won't do him any harm. I let him off the lead this morning (despite him not knowing his name) he went mental and was doing backflips and chasing my other dogs over the fields, having so much fun.... I was almost in tears seeing him so happy.
I really want to take care of this little chappie, although I don't want 4 dogs, and certainly not another JR. But this dog has no vices and seems so scared... I just want to hold him all the time. i feel so funny about it i can't really explain, but it has been good to write it down...

We will see where we go with him, maybe I will keep him, maybe I will find him the most wonderful home, see how it goes. In the meantime he needs a new name for his new life (seeing as he doesn't answer to his old one...) I have a Prinz already, what do people think about 'Earl' (as in the earl of wessex, or 'my name is earl'!)

I have pics from my phone, but not sure if they are any good....
