Labradoodles to be shown at Crufts?

Heard today that Crufts are thinking of classifying this as a proper breed and allowing it to be shown at Crufts.

    Any comments please

It might not be a terrible idea. After all, most breeds started by crossing other breeds anyway. I'm really not a fan of all these designer crossbreeds, however the labradoodle is soooo popular that it's obviously not going anywhere. KC recognition might spur repurtable breeders, health checks etc, maybe....

"labradoodles" are not standardised, at least not yet. I think eventually they will be classified as a breed but would be a tad surprised if it happens now?

I know about six "labradoodles" and they all look completely different to each other :)

I'm afraid that will NEVER happen unless the majority of "Doodle" breeders pull their socks up and breed responsibly, working towards a common goal (uniform physically and in health/temperament). Currently, "Doodles" and all their forms are no different from any other crossbreed so why would they be given KC recognition?

The reality is that most "Doodles" are first generation crosses, bred for no reason other than their owner wants a litter.

This cross breed cannot be a breed as it is the prduct of crossing a Standard Poodle with a Labrador Retriever.

Crufts is a dog show & can only "classify"Kennel Club recognized breeds.

There is less of a chance of a cross breed being shown in the conformation classes at Crufts than me flying to the moon.

This "rumour" comes from the idoit known as Peter Purves who stated at Crufts on the BBC that this cross was to be recognized as a breed that year. Doh............
