Red nose - colby family dog info please Questions

hello there ,does anyone have any info on the colby family dog .i hear its a pit that came to the us from scotland in the late 1800s..?

Just Google it and loads comes up

English and Irish dogs founded the Colby stuff I thought ? And they weren't red nosed either

This is old but yes this doesn't sound right. Primarily from England a few Irish roots. Mostly black nose.
