Irish staff is a breed type, not a breed in it's own right.
It is not offically recognised by any registration body, they are usually taller and leaner than your average SBT and some do compete in events such as weight pulling.

Reason I'm asking is some one told me Irish staffs don't exist they are pit bulls n I'm concerned now my pup is pit bull x. To me his dad looked like a taller staff. staff head ect but I'm not sure now.

My ex has had the same thing, he bought a blue Staff and when it got a lot taller he told me he thought it might be an Irish Staff but now his vet has told him that the dog is a pitbull. Lovely dog though.

Oh I'm not concerned he wontbea lovely dog, and if it ever came to it he would go missing before anything happened to him. I just want to be prepared that's all. I stupidly just thought wen we were told Irish staff they were different lines, ut is my OH dog so I didnt really have much to do with gettin the dog only picking him up =].

I will try and upload sone photos.

    Thank

I think there is every likelihood it will be,

As has been posted "Irish Staff" is an euphemism used by many to cover the pit bull x /type with a acceptable name.

There is no recognised breed as the "Irish Staff"

Theyre commonly known to be Pitbulls crossed with Staffies however theres probably more Staffs in them nowdays.

Hi. I have coppied this from a simalar question on irish blue staffs. In the bull breed section. have copied this from direct gov site-

What is a ‘type’ of banned dog?
Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what your dog actually looks like, rather than the breed or name by which it is called.
If your dog matches many of the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier, it may be treated as a banned type, no matter what type or breed its parents were. (Cross-bred and mongrel dogs can have the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier.)
    Pit Bull type dogs
Pit Bull types can be called:
    American Staffordshire Terriers
    Irish Staffordshire Terriers
    Irish Blue or Red Nose
Some kinds of American Bulldogs have been found to be Pit Bull types.
    Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. You are allowed to own this breed of dog.

a blue staff is just another kc accepted color of staff, it never used to be a very sort after color. but now selling a "irish blue staff" is the new thing, and like others have said i can be used as code for a pit, but believe what you want it is a banned dog, so like others have said please drop the irish bit for your dogs sake,i will paste the site address . the whole "what dogs is banned" is very open and flakey.

He's lovely. If I were you I would just keep quiet about his breed. If anyone asks that is staffie or staffie cross is enough info.
