hi just trying to establish the difference between an american bull terrier a bull terrier a pitbull and a pig dog. can anyone help thanks:
I've never heard of an American Bull Terrier, But there are American Bulldogs, American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. American Bulldogs are an unrecognized breed, coming in three different styles, some look like large pit bulls, some look alot more like an english bulldog, and some are more mastiff like, if anyone has ever seen homeward bound, the white dog in that movie is the third type of American Bulldog. American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers are one and the same. The Pit bull is registered with the UKC and the Am Staff, the AKC. a single dog can be registered with both the ACK and the UKC, as long as both parents are registered with both kennel clubs. the Bull terrier is a completely different looking dog than any of the other three, it has the distinctive roman nose, and prick ears... tho it's body is similar to the other breeds, as it's compact, muscular and athletic. If you take the head off the Bull terrier, they would look alot like a Pit Bull, in my opinion. the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is alot smaller than the Pit Bull, Ambull, or the Am Staff, more the size of the Bull Terrier, and smaller, with shorter legs, tho they look alot like an Am Staff/Pit Bull to the untrained eye. I have no idea what a Pig Dog is, can you enlighten me?
Pig dog is a catch dog, usually a Standard/performance type American Bulldog or a catch weight pitbull or sometimes a mix of the two which can be registered as Old time southern catch dogs..unless your in Australia where they cross anything with anything and if it catches pigs then it's a pigdog.
