    Doggy Clothing Help???

    Hello,

I just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good clothing shop (preferably not online) for my very small chihuahua. She gets very cold even at home with the heating on. Does anyone else have this problem? Do you think its cruel to put clothing on her?

Also, I am doing my research for my final major project at uni, about the doggy clothing market. I would get really good grades if I can get some good research. But its hard to get someone to fill in a questionnaire these days what with all the questionnaires flying around. I wondered if you guys had time you could fill it in for me. Its literally only 10 questions and it would really mean so much.

    THANKS!! :)

    Hi Kay,

I think you should buy your doggie a coat! It's not cruel at all - more cruel would be letting her shiver. Can't recommend one but google should help!

My pooch is a lurcher as she has NO fat on her at all so I will be doing likewise. Will try your survey now...

Putting a coat on your dog to protect it from the cold is not cruel. Dressing your dog up in silly out fits could be classed cruel along side ridiculous.

You can get dog coats in most pet shops, and on many online stores.

Can't recommend where to get one, but I think you should put a coat on your dog if she is cold, its not cruel at all... I intend to put my Pointer in a coat in winter!!

Maybe you could get her a little jumper for in the house, so that when you use the coat outside she will be warmer, we all know what it's like to leave ur coat on indoors and then walk out in the cold it has no affect.

I have completed ur survey, good luck with ur project

I don't have any clothing for my dog, (other than a seatbelt harness) but i'm considering getting him a coat of some description for winter.
The chilly weather so far hasn't bothered him, he'll still go outside & lay on concreat garden path. (& stay there all day if i let him)
He is an outdoorsy type anyway & it's took three months for him to learn that 'he is allowed' in the house, without me dragging him in!

Thank you so much for completing the survey, it is really helpful, I have had a few responses so far and I have only just put it on the site!! :) So fingers x'd I will get some good results.

I have just bought her a little knitted jumper online. It was only cheap so fingers x'd it fits her. I have never had to worry about getting coats or anything for a dog before, I have had a springer spaniel for years and he has got his beautiful thick fur to keep him (and my feet) warm :) xxx

Hi I have a Chihuaua aswell he always wears his coat outside in winter. I find the dog coats/jumpers ect better in New York I usually buy over there. I had a Yorkie who died 2 years ago I bought her a cashmere/silk jumper from Saks and it was only $14 over here I couldn't afford it.

i found for mine i make em coats out of sleeves of old jumpers, one sleeve makes 2 coats, timo my 2 yr old has the wider end of the sleeve and 4 month old mabel had the wrist end.all you have to do is cut a slit for their front legs and hey presto u have a jumper/coat.saves alot of expense and they get new ones whenever i decide to not wear something anymore.in fact people have asked where i got them from as thier coats always match, lol. i explain timo has one end of the sleeve and mabel has the other! in fact ,the cuff acts like a little polo neck on hers, lol.i should add my dogs are charlies, but mbel at mo is chihuahua sized so the wrist end should fit a chi.

Just to add I just filled in your survey. I think their is a few possible responses missing. We bought a reflective coat for our dog for the winter as we have no streetlights around here and it's very dark. There was no option anywhere to mention that a coat was bought for this purpose (safety).

I was just thining of saying about knitting a jumper for her but then I saw the post that you had bought one already. Otherwise do you know how to knit or do you know a aunt etc who knits?

I keep my dogs in the coats that they were born in but understand that there are some dogs that need that extra help but dressing them like elves or sailors etc is just silly
