The white and blue or white and silver are not uncommon in Poland.Three of the top lines,Grotius,Polot and Stepovy Goniec all carry a lot of the blue gene.
This is a picture of a group of Stepovy Goniec borzois that were exported to Canada. Some of the blues and most silvers fade to pure white with maturity.Stunning aren't they?
These are all show champion dogs.Grotius and Polot no longer breed as far as I could discover and the last Stepovy G litter were all sold and awaiting shipping to their new owners but we were put onto Agata who had this new born litter. There were only two males out of 9 pups. The pedigree was right,it contained all the names I wanted, the parents were right- I liked them - and the pup was the colour I wanted so he's booked.Barring accidents he should be with us in about 3 months.Agata has agreed to hang onto him a bit longer than would otherwise be normal as I'm afraid of flying a very young pup that distance It's a long flight with a change of plane at Heathrow hard to avoid so we'll wait until he's about 4 months old.I have no fear,Agata will do all that's necessary by way of socialising him and doing the early training. She doesn't have kennels, her borzois are house dogs and she's totally precious about them. She's only anxious that he won't turn out to be the biggest Champion ever seen on this side of the water!(not something we're worried about! - win lose or draw the best dog in the show is ALWAYS the one you put in your car at the end of the day.If the judge doesn't agree he's only to be pitied for his lack of vision...)

There's no stopping me now I've plumbed the mystery of cut and paste - thanks to Dogsey's concise directions in the help section!
    Another breathtaking white borzoi.

Thanks for the pretty pics. :)
The last blue and white I saw over here was absolutely beautiful and a long time ago (although I don't get to so many dog shows these days) and a young dog, so maybe that one didn't stay blue either:-(

What beautiful pictures, bet you cn't wait for your baby boy to arrive. I have a 6 year old white & gold boy & have had Borzois for 30+ years.

And in reference to a previous poster about cats & Borzois, I have cats too.

First pic since his eyes opened came today and wouldn't you know it he was asleep.
I can wait for him,it's much easier to house train in the summer! We've had so much rain this last few weeks I'm beginning to feel like a fish.

    OMG what beautiful pups!!

I have hounds and have considered Borzoi, is the temperament much different to greys and lurchers?

Similar but not as laid back though it's hard to generalise about lurchers. With them it depends what the cross is.Borzois can be a little sharp but so can greys.
They were invented to catch wolves rather than bunnies which could explain the slight edge they have. They're quite a bit taller than most greys too with massive muscles on the hindquarters. If you kneel directly behind them you can't see the front at all.Comical I've always thought on such a lean dog.

Thankyou:) I shall know where to come for advice in the future should we decide to have a Borzoi:)

Our crossbreeds have always been saluki/greyhound, which vary in temperament, but we love them!!

I've a saluki gh mix too (I've quite a few dogs and they're an eclectic mixture)- and what a destructive little so and so he is.I've seen some that are reserved like full salukis but not Skipper. His arms are around the neck of every stranger and he will not be removed without locking him away which isn't practical either coz he'll just eat the door.

Our first saluki gh was reserved with strangers, and very much my dog, our present one MUST be related to yours - destructive, and needs to be surgically removed from ours or anyone else that comes along's lap:roll:

Pet Pscyhic is your one for borzoi advice though.I've known a few Russian Wolfhounds and I did a lot of research before starting to look for one but Anton will be the first one I'll have lived with.

Our last was pale cream, and our new boy is mainly fawn.

Yours is more saluki looking than mine.Skipper has the greyhound type ears.If it weren't for the eyes and the colour you wouldn't pick up the saluki in him.Haven't caught him sleeping (only chance of a photo!) long enough yet but when I do I'll start a 'Longdog' thread and put it up (SOOO proud of myself for being able to do that!)

Disappointment!Anton has changed colour completely and is now a lemon brindle. So I've cancelled the purchase. The breeder says the colour will deepen moving further and further away from the blue.Fortunately the change has happened early enough in terms of the pup's age to not mess the breeder around. If he'd been older I would have felt obliged to go through with it.The only reason I was willing to go to the extra expense of importing from so far away was to get the blue colour. So it's back to the drawing board,or at least back to the hunt for a blue borzoi. It'll be on the internet this time though, it's a while before our next trip and it won't be to Poland. At least I know where to look now.

What a shame! A lemon brindle sounds lovely too. But I understand having certain specifications.

He's a lovely looking pup but I could find a good lemon brindle in the UK without the kings ransom in import costs!Silver blues however...
