    Cross Breed Pups!!

    Hey guys :!:

My 1 year old Staff mated with a Golden Retriever! :p She has been having all the pregnancy symptoms & I'm almost certain that she's pregnant.

I have been trying to work out what the pups may look like, so I've been searching all over the internet. Unfortunatly, :009: I haven't been able to find even a single picture! :-(

I'm sure someone has a similar breed of maybe a Staff crossed with a larger dog? I'm more concerned about the size & strength possibilities as the Golden Retriever was double the size of my Staff & they're both still young.

The father (looks like exactly like this but with a dark patch around the nose): [IMG]

    The Mother: [IMG]

This is the closest to what I can imagine the pups to be like:

Or vise versa, a larger dog but with the features of a staff.
Please help by sharing your thoughts & hopefully pics!
    Thanks x

Can I ask why you let this mating happen?

I let my dog out in the garden in the middle of the night because she was bursting for a wee & she was looking for her toy in some bushes; she managed to get through a crack in the fence to next doors garden! I didn't worry because they were familiar with each other as I go to the park with my neighbour all the time. When I called her she didn't come back through which I thought was strange because she never misses commands so I quickly ran round & both the dogs were latched on, so I was too late.

So, she was in season and you thought it was ok to leave her with an entire male just because she knew him?

What are you going to do with the puppies in 60-odd days time? Do you have homes for them?

No, I didn't leave her I called her straight away because I didn't want her pondering around in another garden, but I didn't get round in time. I know alot of people that would love these puppies and i plan to keep some myself

Plus I didn't realize the broken fence so I wouldn't consider it as unresponsible either; it was just one of those things

1 year old, is very young to be having pups. Do you know how far along she is?
I have learned on here that having pups is very very hard work, from before the birth right thru til the pups leave you. I hope you like sleepless nights.
    Good luck

I'm just assuming she's one because I don't know her exact age, she was abandoned so I took her on. It has been a few months now though. I'm going to get as much advice and help as possible from my vet and also my mum who has been through to of her dogs births so far. Me & my partner have agreed to take turns feeding so hopefully things should work out :001:

So, if this was an accidental mating, what stopped you from taking your bitch to the vet to get the jab that would have stopped the litter?

And I repeat my question - what are you planning to do with the pups?

Has she seen a vet yet? I realise accidents do happen but I would be concerned over a mating that involved a bitch that was far smaller than the dog. I used to groom a Westie who was mated to another, far larger, dog and she had to have an emergency C section as the puppies were so large. She nearly died in the procedure and I would be very worried about your girl having problems.

Please get her checked before this goes on any more.

So she is a one year old rescue?! Tried to think of something constructive to say but I can't really. You say its "just one of those things" but in actual fact its not, its just irresponsible! Poor baby..and poor pups when they arrive.

So let me get this straight.

    An "abandoned" dog.
    No history of parentage.
    No history of health status.
No health tests on the mother.
No health tests on the father?
1yr old bitch? looks much older in the photo.
    Not planned.

Why on earth would you imagine anyone would want one?

if its been a few months now, and you have been getting help from the vet, you must know whether she is due soon, or not pregnant at all. I thought vets did scans to see size and number of pups.
In a way, I hope she is not expecting, because the birth of pups with a larger father could be very traumatic for your bitch, and possibly very expensive if vet intervention is required.
I wish you luck with your venture and will comment no more.

Of course she's been checked out I've already talked to my neighbour about the situation, i've seen my vet that's why I know so much much of these problems she said I have nothing to worry about because we're tackling at an early stage. Yes, it shouldn't have happened but I know everything should be ok. I've already said that there are a few homes for some of the pups; i'm keeping some and my neighbour said she's keeping at least two because her daughter was wanting a puppy. I wasn't thinking about getting her tubes tied because I wanted her to have puppies in the end but just not like this. Also I have two more dogs, a rottie called Paul who is now 4 and a half & Dalmation called Sheila who has just turned 2. I've had Sheila from birth because my mum owns her mother.

Hmm..something in the story doesn't ring true also.. If it was the "middle of the night" why was your neighbours dog just wandering around their garden?

The dog sleeps in his kennel. I always let my dog out every few hours because she has bladdar problems. I'm not going to make something like this up, all i wanted to see is if anyone's heard of this breed before and if there's any pictures that anyone had. I've only seen german shepherd and staff that's the closest
