Yep all mine are great with kids, now look at this outside my backdoor theres three steps which lead you onto my patio my daughter who is 5 is standing on the top step Spike is standing on the actual patio area looking over our stable door. Spike could have very easily bowled over my daughter who is dwarfed by him. But he never infact he's quite a patient dog especially with children..although saying that even more so with children.
Mine are just amazing with kids! the both just roll on there back and want to be stroked! Bessie plays with my 8 year cus, but when she plays tug, bessie hardly tugs, but when she plays with us she pulls us over lol! she very protective of children too!
My 5yr old with Jack. Very patient with her, she plays hide and seek with him. Tells him to sit and stay in living room while she hides one of his toys in another room then tell him to find it. Always gives it to her no prob to play again.
My 2 don't have any kids living with them but are always good when friends little ones come around, My youngest sister Samantha has Downs and she adores Busta and Daisey. There really good with her and kind of know she is special Samantha always cleans Busta's 'Tears' from his eyes This is Daisey and Samantha having a moment in the garden.

The Stafford is the only dog refered to in their KC breed standard as being good with children and known as the Nanny Dog...I believe one of the best breeds of dog you could ever have around kids, of course supervised, they get called the Nanny Dog for very good reason My 5 yr old Nephew Brody and his best friend. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/LaurasAlbum/DSC01436.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/LaurasAlbum/DSC01432.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/LaurasAlbum/DSC01428.jpg
Great pics Laura!! I've heard Akitas discribed as babysitters before. On the other hand I've also heard them discribed as Pit Bull Killers as well so... BTW I think we have the same sofa.
Great pics everyone, really nice to see some positive images of Staffies and children together. Dino doesn't live with any kids but he loves them too. When my young cousins come andstay he loves playing with them and is always following them around like they a group LOL. when he meets kids in the park he always has time to let the kids stroke him, where as he jumps all over adults he kind of knows that kids are smaller and not as strong so he is not as boistrous around them. RobK i haven't heard of Akitas also being nanny dogs, maybe you know better though love the look of them. Akitas are really not pitbull killers though. The Akita was once the widest used fighting dog in Japan untill europeans/americans went over and put it head to head with the pitbull, it always came off the loser. Thus the japanese were very shamed and had to create a more formidable apponent which resulted in the creation of the Tosa Inu, which have infact known to be pitbull killers at times. LOL so now you know matey ! In no way do i condone dog fighting, i think its sick !
My life long friend is an Akita lover/breeder/specialist and they are all great with kids !! They love my son and my friends niece is always there!! Oh and my Kai and Keish love the Akita family !!! Here's a pic... Nico the male Akita and Kai (Male SBT) on the train on way home from show
