I have seen some stunning Border Collies on here and I am in the process of planning a collie puppy. Can any of you reccomend me a good breeder? I don't know if you can post on here if not pm me! I will be getting a Bitch and she will be first and foremost a pet dog, however she will eventually be joining my Jrt participating in obedience, flyball and agility. I have wanted a Collie since I was 4 years old and I saw my uncles Collie at work on his farm. Besides a Collie is the only other dog I know who can keep up with Jake! Thanks in advance Laura x
This will be my first Collie too I'm doing plenty of research not to mention a distance dog psychology course so I should be ready! I cant wait I love all sorts of dog but I especially like clever ones. Jake is very clever too and all his close friends are BC's from his flyball class so hopefully they will compliment each other.
Can't help you there Jake, we rescued ours from a horrible house at 6 weeks but I'm sure other BC owners will be able to help. Good luck
Thanks Wufflehound I usually go for rescues too (jake was a rescue) I thought with it being my first ever collie I wanted to start with a clean slate so to speak. Maybe in years to come (if I have my way) I'll own loads of rescues I think i'm becoming addicted to being a dog owner
lol wufflehoond Casiie looks perfect to me she doesn't need any dog psychology ;-) It's a fascinating subject though!
You would be surprised mate. Everyone that meets her thinks she's the perfect little angel but they haven't seen her spinning round and barking at cars
Hmmmmmmm well I thought that was normal behaviour? Or is it just me that behaves like that? :smt101 :smt101
I dunno much about BC breeders, I'm afraid! My Kali came through an advert in our local paper (the agricultural ads section!), and we fell for Snorri when we took Kali back to the farm for a visit! However, I wasn't looking for a "properly-bred" BC, anyway, what I was after was a bog-standard Orkney farm collie! And, although Kali is spoiled rotten (by farm standards), I guess I got a good one! Also, he was cheap by comparison with pedigreed representatives of the breed - a whole £25! (On one occasion, I turned down an offer of £450 for him!). So, to get a good dog, you don't necessarily have to find a breeder, as such. A farmyard tyke will serve as well! Farmyard tyke: Snorri
I love your farmyard tyke Is he for sale: gorgeous :smt049 I know what your saying snori; great advice Joedeeuk has given me a fantastic lead which i'm currently looking into but thanks i'll bare that in mind.
oh no I want them now, can one train a group of BC's all in one go? ;-) Jake would think it was his birthday if I brought them home! SOOOOOOOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE :smt049 :smt049
