Picked this beatuiful girl up today as a playmate for our SBT. Both are young (13weeks & 17weeks), and having two young pups isn't recommended for training difficulties that arise, but we're accepting the challenge So i was wondering, as far as a general temperament and behaviour pattern go, what tends to be more dominent in Lab/Rott crosses? The Lab side or the Rotty side? Thanks for looking, hope you like
Wow - would not have expected a Lab/rottie cross to have a fluffy coat! They look very cute - but as to which would be more dominant - you will have to wait and see as she grows
I figured that too! The coat makes me confident she may be part bear....or rug! I think that it will dissipate over time, but time'll tell. I'm so eager to see which side comes through, we picked her up from someone that couldn't afford her the time she deserves and requires as they already had enough responsibilities with children etc, and as far as what we know of her goes, it's only what was said as we didn't get chance to see the parents. Either way she's lovely, and has a great temperament at the minute! Itching to see what she'll look like too! If anyone has any pics please post them, or links to threads where they are already posted. Thanks Paul
Hmm...do you just have their word that she was a Rottie/Lab cross? given that neither Rottie nor Lab pups have coats like that, I think I would be slightly suspcious of what they told you. Lovely pup though.
We're more than slightly suspicious, we're very suspicious of what they told us...but have thrown caution to the wind and decided that she's lovely anyway so it doesn't really matter. If and when folk ask what she is i'll just say an Aberdeen Angus, they'll not know the difference
Collie/retriever maybe. Or spaniel/collie or retriever/spaniel. Personally I'd go for some collie cause of the sharper nose. Lovely girl anyway and a big contrast to your other one. rune
I see some collie there, those pictures aren't the best for shaping her up properly, they look very strange when i look at them on here, she's much much chunkier, with quite a broad snout too. If her ears weren't so fluffy i'd assume her fur would flatten down over time but her ears throw me off, theu're more spaniel like than anything really. Possibly some GSD in there somewhere, or maybe the mum (supposedly rotty) was an ally/rotty cross herslef? Oh i don't know Paul
I'd happily bet there is no rottie in there. Both pups are gorgeous though, good luck with the little monkeys.
DITO, though why someone would say there is when theres not is a bit strange, the pup also has a white mark under the chin? I cant see rottie, the skull / muzzel are just to fine for rottie, the coats wrong, though I have to say what a cute pup.. I would say collie or gsd type cross.
I really hope the reason is not what I think it is!! She reminds me ALOT of TillyMint's Tilly, don't you think?
I see Lab in the face straight on definately, although the profile isn't classic Lab (that said, I guess working types can and do have profiles like that). As for what else she has in there, I don't know. I think it will be a case of waiting until she is fully mature and then seeing. If she ends up as a medium sized dog with a slighter frame, maybe Collie. If she ends up larger, maybe GSD as others have said. Hard to say right now (and it might never be clear!).
Lol she has Newf Ears!!! and the rest of her I would say is Collie/Retriever/GSD Lovely Girl regardless of her mixture of parentage ....
Yea i saw that too! Man i'm confused...maybe it's a squirrel in disguise haha Thanks for the lovely comment
I would be extremely surprised if there was any Rottie in that pup also. Nothing about it says Rott to me. It does look like it has collie in it and maybe flat coat retriever? Dead cute pup, whatever the mix is!!
I asked someone about their Yorkie cross (what was it crossed with?) and they said they had bought it as a pedigree Lhasa Apso! Fortunately they agreed that they too thought it was a Yorkie cross. Hard to tell when they are small puppies but you wouldn't think it was the breeds you mentioned. You will just have to make up some silly name for it and then everyone will want one! Rottriever?
