Wow, things like this make me glad I live in Georgia, where breeds aren't discriminated against aside from on apartment leases.

Why was the dog tattooed? That alone seems so inhumane to me.

Is it to keep track of seized dogs?

Here dogs are only tracked by their rabies vaccination number. If there are any BSL on the books in this state, there are de facto none as there is no enforcement. If a dog is picked up by animal control and it has no rabies tag with an ID number, it is put down. If it does have an ID, it's held for 7 to 30 days and then put down. Unfortunately, bully breeds tend to be put down first although there's no legal grounds for it. More bully breeds are put down in DeKalb & Fulton Counties (Atlanta) than any other breed because they far outnumber the other breeds. Often, the county humane society will try to rescue as many dogs as they can from the holding kennels at animal control before they are put down as long as they pass a temperament test for human aggression. Food, dog, cat aggression are allowed.

all dogs that are 'Pitbull type' these are, any bull breed dog crossed with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier they supposed to be registered, microchipped neutered, tattooed, kept on a lead and muzzled. we have a lot of idiot's here that have these dogs as status symbols and fighting etc.

I must point out that the tattoo has to be done by human tattooists & not NDTR Tattooists. I've been approached by 6 different police forces to tattoo Exempt dogs however as they require the tattoo to be on the legs & not in the ear so I cannot do the tattoos.

The tattoos I do take seconds to do & look nothing like the one in the photo which could be easily altered. Vets/VNs used to do the DDA tattooing whilst the dogs were under a GA being neutered, the ones I have seen have been terrible & crudely done.

I will try to get a photo of my Keewee's tattoo to show the difference

That tattoo was done using the equipment that is used to tattoo humns & isn't "branding" as such
