I was wondering if anyone could help. I am getting so many conflicting reviews online! I have a 12 year old Dally with 2 types of urinary stones, he is currently on a prescription of Allopurinol tablets every day. I read that a diet low in protein and Purines is good for him. I have been trying out different foods, Wagg made him parp like nobody's business! So I tried to find something he liked - Purina "Beta" senior and Pedigree complete - both dry food. Also James Wellebeloved and Wainrights - he favours Pedigree. Does anyone know of a dry food (apart from the prescription Hills diet - which made hime eternally ravenous since it contains little nutrition) which will be good for him?
purina has a wide variety of different foods for different thngs try purina i feed mine purina goodluck let me knowwat you pick
I found this site which is an interesting read http://www.aplus-flint-river-ranch.com/article-healthydalmatiandiet.php My Dali is being fed half raw, half puppy food (2 meals of each a day) and will be fed on raw solely when he is older.
From what I have researched into food for Dals a high quality diet is essential. No unecessary fillers, additives, colourings etc so Pedigree/Bakers wouldn't be a good choice in my opinion. More so is the purine level! Chicken and Turkey are lower in purines than lamb or Beef. Europa, Royal Canin Dalmatian are good for Dalmatians. I feed mine on Arden Grange.
Mine have been on Hills puppy food up to now - but as they are approaching 1 year old I am going to change them over to raw as this contains no additives and preservatives.
