    Any akita owners out there???

Are there any Akita owners out there? :!:

I have been around for a couple of days now, but as yet haven't met another Akita owner :-(

There must be some out there? somewhere? Anywhere?

Or are you all too busy cuddling you big bears? Or chasing them around the field?

    Speak up!

I'm based in Cheshire with my 2, Zeke (6ish) and Keisha (3).

We haven't got one, but there are a couple who live nearby, a male and female.

Also met another today on our travels, plus ours walk with one from time to time, when we bump into him and his owner xxx:lol:

I had one come through the house, he was a pup who had been used basically like a bait dog for a adult Akita bitch, he now lives as a single dog, under the charge of a ginger moggy :D

There is an Akita girl at Many Tears rescue that has been there a while - I mention her to my OH EVERY DAY - he just won't let me have another dog boo hoo!

His parents have just moved to Wales and live about half a mile from the rescue. The worst thing is, he went down there in November to see his parents and went to see her and said she is a lovely girl, but still won't let me. Why did he go and do that...grrr! Rubbish.

Aww, I've seen her on their site, she's still there? :-( I couldn't visit and leave her, so I don't visit at all or I'd have them all!

They are indeed a vey special breed of dog. Unfortunately, I don't think that ai will ever have another one, Nala has been too special and I don't think that I would be lucky enough to get another like her :-(

Aw, I know what you mean, although when we got our second, silly as it sounds but I thought I would always stick up for Zeke (our 1st) and didn't think I could possibly love another dog as much, but I do! Keisha is very special to me, I love her just as much as Zeke, in a different way, she has her own adorable quirks. akitas really touch your hearts, every one you own i reackon.

Oh ok Ali, a few pics :)mrgreen:) but I want to see yours!

Of course, its an EzyDog one, we got it from Jolleys, I think pets at home have started doing them as well I think it was about £18, can get them easily online too. We have a collar too ours dont match but you can get them matching, both have been really well wearing had them nearly 2 years now and they still look new.

    Hi,

I have an Akita (xGSD) bitch called Ellie. She will be 2 years old on 29th. April this year.
She looks more like an Akita than a GSD but with the 2 GSDs around, Ellie looks even more like an Akita every day. She used to look exactly lik ea Kai Ken dog. If you google it and look at the Wiki entry, that black/brinde dog shown on thre is the spiting image of Ellie (if that's any help).

I grew up with GSDs and Akitas and will always have at least one around me. They're a breed I can't live without - although many of the people I seem to come across now think they're nasty dogs!

I think they're fantastic dogs and wish I had a house and land big enough to have a dozen or so of each breed (GSDs and Akitas). Althuogh I'd have to win the lottery for that to happen.

Aww i agree, I'd have a house full too if I had the space, and a bit more time!!

Our Zeke looks a little GSDish with his colouring and he's quite slim! A perfect breed to have together I imagine, but you must get another Kita to even it out! :p

Wow, the Kai Ken dog is beautiful, I've never even heard of them!

Yeah, the ignorance of people to the breed annoys me, I once got told 'they kill people those Akitas don't they?!' Pah, maybe squashing them to death when they sit on them for cuddles yeah!

We do some charity work for an akita charity and Zeke was on our charity stand in pets at home all day the other week with a few of his pals to raise awareness and get some rehomed - they were all perfect, real ambassadors for the breed! They loved all the attention and fusses, one mother even sat her baby on his back!
