People breeding Staffs to Ab's are morons, unless they are making some type of hunting dog or out cross and are going to cull the pups they do not keep, not sell them to the public. Just be carefull who you talk to and what you say and you'll be ok....My Ab pup is going through areal pitbull typey stage at the monet at 4 months so I'm being carefull where I take him just incase.

i have a staff cross american bull who is two years old and she is the most loving dog because i have brought her up right she has passed her gold good citizen and goes to training every week i also have a staff who has silver good citizen andagain goes training once a week i dont see the point of some of these designer dogs ie cockerpoo etc as i am of firm believe any dog can be dangerous if brought up wrong dont judge the breed

Hi am holly I have a staff cross american bulldog if it ok can I ask a few questions. Mine is only 11 wks old am just a bit concerned wen he gets bigger as I have a 4yr old son its just you here all the stories about them being dangerous or is it how u bring them up yourself, how is yours as its a bit older am in 2 minds in what to do as I have fell in love with it.

why have a dog of this breeding if you have it in youre head that they are dangerous i cant see why you would think this as long as the puppy is well socialized , son and dog are taught boundaries this pup is going to be like any other puppy.
i raised 4 children around round [english] mastiffs , never had a problem.

i had mine from 6 months old and she is loved and fussed by all the kids in the street i do agree though with post above if you had concerns not sure why you got the puppy i ended up with my dog as the people before had a child and they didnt realise how much time the puppy was going to take up with training and walks etc if your pup is trained and your son is taught how to act correctly things should be ok

my good friend has this cross... she is fine with pups and certain dogs she knows well...but she is da and also guards her owner when out ..she has to be very on the ball with her...she also looks like a pit.

Just because they might look like a pitbull means nothing in my eyes. The BSL laws are difficult...and dangerous to innocent dogs that have not hurt a fly, but as long as she is well behaved and controlled in public you shouldnt get any negative attention. Get her spayed, chipped and insured.

Staffies and ABs are both extremely powerful dogs, and would need a firm owner, but if they are brought up to be well mannered and well socialised there is no reason why she cant be a lovely family dog.

I have simply stated thats my opinion, which I think Im entitled to.

Just because they look like a pitbull does not mean they are, and even if they were doesnt mean they are aggressive which is why the breed specific legislation laws are absolutely rubbish. I hear of big changes hopefully coming along this year where innocent dogs that just happen to fit "type" wont be persecuted.

You shouldnt have to hide your dog away - if you are walking around with a well behaved, good mannered dog, people wont look twice at you. If you are walking with a dog that looks blatantly out of control dragging you down the street then you will definitely get negative attention which is when reports happen.

Just going to post and realised the OP was back in 2009 - the thread is quite emotive even now!

Got to agree why are people crossing these breeds, I would walk in the other direction if I saw a dog that looked anything like a pitbull.
