HI. I have a choc lab. She is lighter than other choc labs I see. Most are almost black. Also I have noticed other choc labs have really dark almost reddie coloured eyes. Hers are hazel. Quite unusual. Is anyone else's choc lab a lighter shade? Here she is:
You see almost everything from the very light almost white yellows to the jet blacks. I guess they call the ones that are too dark to be a yellow and to light to be a chocolate, a fox red. I do think many chocolates are darker, but see light ones like yours.
That's right, there is a huge range of shades in both the yellows and the chocolates and may I say I think your girl is utterly gorgeous and her eyes are beautiful.
Awww thanks. Her eyes tell i different story everytime I look at them Yeah there are lots of shades, I dont like the whole 'fox red' thing to be honest, its like me saying 'milk chocolate' instead of 'dark chocolate'. Its ust another way to sell animals.
nah mollys chocolate. In some lights she looks dark and in some light, but she isnt fox red. Fox red is just a deep dark yellow
Mine look the same, def not a dark reddy yellow, get a slightly darker coat in winter and can look darker in different lights, def not choc though! :-/
It's an offical Labrador term mentioned in the standard as a descriptive for teh colour - not a sales gimmick
Your Lab is a beautiful chocolate - no way in a million years fox red, just lovely chocolate - delightful shade I see a fair few at shows in that shade. Is my favourite chocolate
What colour were her parents? Was she the product of a Yellow x Chocolate mating? She is definately chocolate As Julie said, there is nothing wrong with the term 'fox red' it is mentioned in the standard to describe a shade of yellow.
This one was stayingh with me for a while....she is quite light...(admittedly the sun is on her in this picture...)
Hi. her mum was black and her dad was yellow. They had 3 litters and in each one there was just 1 chocolate.
