staffy pup, face looks like a lab

i brought a staffy pup , he is now just over 7 months old

he is black in colour with a white spot on his chest

in his face he looks like a lab  would you say that they look similar at that age ?

or is he not a full staff ?

he is 16inch tall to the highest point of his back and wieghs 22kg

ill try and get some pics up but what do you think ?

Hi,at 7months he should really be able to tell if he is a staffy or not,but he may just be more on the terrier side and just not bulldoggy lookin. Not all staffys have the bulldog head,it should really be 50-50 a nice blend of bull and terrier.
Did you see his parents and get papers etc?
They do go through the phase of looking like other breeds as young pups, some lines mature quicker than others, but he is reaching sexual maturity at 7months and his head should reflect that.

I have a staff x lab whose 6 months old now. He did look very staffy like when little but now hes grown up a bit he looks a bit like an overgown, non muscular staff! lol. So not really staff like at all! You can tell its there but he's clearly a cross.

    Good luck with the photos

This is Jet, sorry not the best image to use as you can't see his face, but he and the tiger are rarely parted.

A picture would be good of the dog in question but I have aStafford bitch (100% staff) but when she was about 7 months old she did look like a lab youngster especialy as she is black...they do...don't worry if you got the pup from a reputable and well thought of breeder and did your homework there should be no doubt in your mind. I'm not an expert but I'd say she was staff. The smile kinda gives it away:) She might take a wee while to fill out yet.

    Doesn't matter, she's a lovely dog.

Two top pictures it looks like a stafford but the lack of stop and length of nose in the bottom picture does put me in mind of a lab.

Is this dog KC registered and how tall is it it to the withers please

I would suggest he is not a stafford but a stafford x Lab

Please be careful to make sure he is well trained and always on a lead in public places.
    He looks a lovely dog.

The first two photos I can see the stafford in him. Then the last couple the stop, thats the bit between his eye would be more distinct on a stafford and the Muzzle length and shape on top looks more lab like.

Still a pup and he is already 4 inches taller than he should be as a stafford. I do know sometimes Staffords get taller than the standard but put all together and I would doubt he is a full Stafford.
I will post some pic of some heads including of a Stafford a little taller than the standard see if you can see what I mean.

He does not look like a Pit Bull to me but when he grows he very well may be considered "type".

Did you see his dam and siblings?

How old was he when you bought him?

He looks a lovely dog but I am slightly concerned that you say there was "a pit" present when you visited the breeder.

Do you think it was a puppy farm?
