Hi A friend is looking into having a mini schnauzer join her family, they have no other dogs. I'm going to try a promote the rescue route as gently as I can so wondered if anyone can help with breed specific rescues in the east anglia area? Also, failing this, any reputable breeders in this area who do all the relevant health screening and who have home reared pup/dogs not kennelled and who would sell to a pet home. Many thanks in advance.
Hi Janie the official Schnauzer Rescue covers all sizes of the breed and and a number of members of the Schnauzer Club act as co ordinaters putting those wishing to re home a dog in touch with prospective owners. There may be quite a wait for a rescue dog. To contact the breed rescue Google The Schnauzer Club of Great Britain/go to The Breed/go to Schnauzer Rescue. Of the all breed rescues I know 'Many Tears' (Google it again) usually have a number of ex puppy farm breeding bitches often in a sorry state. To find an approved breeder contact the secretary of The Miniature Schnauzer Club of Great Britain Mrs Pat Kidd and ask for as list of approved breeders. Minschnauzerclub@aol.com ..these breeders will have signed up to the code of ethics which includes only breeding from the best health tested stock . NB 'in this area ' if they want a puppy from a good breeder they have to be prepared to travel .
