hate it when people start pitbull bashing. it was idiots making their dogs fight not dogs getting their idiots to let them fight.
my grandad had a pit from a fighting line in the 80s, it was the best dog with the best temprement ive ever seen, never growl'd in the 10 years my grandad had him and i was always swinging on its ears and trying to wrestle it.

its such a shame keith passed away he was so knowlagable about the breed x

any how, if it has got pit bull in it and it was a fighting dog breeder you would have paid a premium for it, the badboys round my way are paying up to £500 for dogs that are made out to be pitbull crosses so they look hard drinking cider on the street corners.

it sound like its a bit older than the breeders said it was and its crossed with a bigger dog probly a mastif of some sort, i wouldnt worry though, just train it and socialise it well and it will be fine

Yeah i hate that alot people are hating on pitbulls they are very clever and goodlooking dogs and have real good ears and listen when u give them orders,
I have own pitbull x mastiff and he was very good dog and never attacked anyone in his life,
All he needed was alot love and caring and strong telling off when he played up,

    i love my pitbulls

I dont think people hate pits, nor do I see that in this thread, what I see is people saying there is a legal requirement with this breed, its not a good idea to sweep it under the carpet and hope for the best.
what if at some point the owner of the dog takes the dog for a walk and another dog attacks it? if the OP's friends dog comes off better?
as the owner of rotties, I know from experiance that my dogs must be the best behaved dogs in the park and even if they are attacked and defend themselfs, people would always look at the breeds involved and im guessing the blame would be delt out to the rottie. its sad but true.
the only thing thats going for me just now is, my dogs would not be classed as an illegal breed in that situation.

I am sure you do, but here in the UK they are an ilegal breed, and as such will not be red for pet homes... so although I agree with Shona, on bashing pitbulls, no one is doing that.

The facts are most if not all that are bred here in the UK will be bred from dubious stock, along with xbreeds from all manner of mixes ..and sadly happy friendly pets will not be the nature of the breeding.

the thing is. to be classed as a pit in this country a dog need to have no real pit in him. so you may well have two very well behaved and very legal dogs make one of these illegal types of dog. its a silly law.

to the op i too would say. shy away from using the term pitbull. say its a staffy x. and make sure it is a well behaved well socialised dog. in the event of legal proceedings being bought against you you have a right to appeal to have your dog be placed on the list of exempted dogs if it can be proved to not be of a danger tot he public.
