- My Story:
-
I found myself arriving at this site after adopting my second dog, a White GSD. I have met a few in my life but they are rare here in Scotland. I've looked into a lot of information about them and thought chatting might be fun.
My White GSD boy was called Kavik and he was 7 years old when we got him. He came to me through a Scottish GSD Rescue called Second Chances for GSD http://www.second-chances.com/ His owner had died and he had been starved for a month before he was to be rehomed with us. Yhough we tried for 8 months he lost the battle for his health this Dec.
I had gotten a dog through the rescue 6 months before whom we named Ookie. She is a GSD/Lurcher X...I think. *lol* Her owners moved to Australia and could not take her with them. She is 3 years old and a total doll.
I got Ookie as a companion for my Alaskan Malamute X named Cora. She was 14 years at the time. Though Cora was a world traveller, this was the first time I had lived in a home big enough to have more than one dog and I knew Cora was lonely. Cora spent three happy months with Ookie before she died of old age. Ookie grieved terribly and though I wasn't ready, I had to ask the Rescue to find us someone else. Thus Kavik came to brighten or world though saddly only shortly.
Yesterday I rescued an 18 month old white Malamute named Ice. He has become Ookie's new friend. She loved Kavik like a husband but Ice is a playmate. They play constantly!! I'm so happy for her and for my son Jason. I think Ice is a nice addition to our home which has been so joyless without Kavik.
