I thought that too, also because of the complete lack of coat the 'spots' are actually skin pigment visible through the thin coat and that would not necessarily translate as patches on the actully coat.

Yes Janie, that is the pup I enquired about 2 years ago, looks like the same Axel to me

I have contacted his breeder to let her know that he is advertised for being re homed, as I think it is only fair to also let her know, and that there is a discussion on here about him too.

I think that this breeder was at one time a TIDA reg breeder, perhaps WW will remember this breeder from her time on the TIDA committee. I will also contact TIDA and ask if he can be rehomed through them if he is a TIDA reg NI.

That certianly seems to be Axel! So this is likely his breeder.. I agree Border, definitely not breeding for 'wolflike' there. I wonder if they know their boy has ended up in rescue? I'll send them a link, I'd be mortified if I found out any of my puppies ended up in rescue! Not that I would breed

A friend of mine has a bitch out of Call of the Wild and Magenta and she threw some pups that had this 'mottled' coat.

I have seen quite a few from that line. I met one at a show a few years ago and heard recently that it died of cancer. (sorry a bit off topic)

Yes the breed is diverse - you won't see many at shows and events like this one because they don't get a very good reception - I remember the one I saw was at an NIS show and I think I was the only person who made the owner feel welcome (she is still in touch with me to this day).

Putting the coat colour aside - I would be more concerned about the shape. But the 'breed' really is this diverse.

If you look at one of their dogs peds.. it`s a TIDA certificate.. so she must have been registered with them at some point. I`m not sure which dog it`s referring to but as you can see from the ped.. both parents are Mahleks.

Was this Mahlek Shilo? As far as I know she had one patchy coat and was from the same litter as my Luca is from. (I do know Shilo had one other litter)

If I remember rightly there were two in that litter - they had the bold block patches but also the more subtle mottling in the white of the coat. They were the first I had seen but have seen many more since, especially with the mottling effect.

There weren't any patches in Shylo's second litter and the mottled/patchy bitch she kept didn't throw patchy in her litter.

Thanks for that. I knew of one, but not the other. The patchy bitch that Sandra bred from was that the one that came back to her? I can't remember the bitches name just that it's Luca's litter sister.

The dog pictured is Mahlek Thunderstorm. He is the sire of my boy who came from a litter before the dam, Mahlek Lady Jane and sire, Mahlek Thunderstorm were bought by the Chimayo Inuit breeder. He is a full NI and was registered with the NIS as was the Dam who is a gorgeous, white girl.
