I don't know where WW gets the idea that the crosses are being done to benefit the Czech or Saarloos?

You only have to look at the explanation on my website to see the reason I am doing it.

I think those owners on here who have posted have all agreed that the cross is a much improved dog to the Northern Inuit in every way, but all agree it is not a dog for the novice owner.

Personally, I would like to see the Saarloos and Czech established in the UK in their own right. I would dearly love to help establish the Czech in this country and would want to keep my Czech bitch line pure Czech - but this will depend on whether European breeders will open up and allow us to do this. I know my bitch is still only a pup and I am looking a couple of years into the future, but it would be a crying shame to be backed into a corner where I have no choice but to cross her as that wasn't my intention when I got her.

One thing I would say in defence of crossing these dogs - the pure Czech and Saarloos are no less Czech or Saarloos by having been crossed to improve the Inuit lines. They can still be bred to pure Czech and Saarloos and produce pure C & S.

If you cross a GSD with a chihuahua (heaven forbid!) the GSD is still a GSD and will produce GDSs if put to a GSD later.

It would be nice if the European breeders would assist in getting the breeds established here as there are a number of breeders who would prefer to be breeding these.

I think that the European breeders have no faith in anyone over in the UK. The CWD has been crossed by the very person claimed to be the guardian of the breed and who criticized others for cross breeding. As for the SWH when a bunch were sent over to establish the breed; well you know the result...

It will require the effort of the few 'pure' bred owners to demonstrate their sincerity towards the breeds before Europe will open up willingly.

Good plug for the website by the way:grin:

Sorry to pick out part of your post but if you could not mate your Czech with another, instead of being backed into a corner why not refrain from breeding her at all and have her as your beautiful pet?:001:

Or the 3rd choice of not to breed from her....Surely if you wish to show the breeders on the continent that you are truely invested in the breed you will wait until the time is right - even if that means missing out on a litter from this bitch.

    Thank you ;-)

I know what you are saying re the European breeders and I can understand their viewpoint - but it is frustrating for any of us who are serious.

I don't mind missing out on a season or two if it meant I could breed pure - but I bought the bitch at no small price with the intention of breeding pure Czech. Had I known that there was a possibility that I couldn't breed pure I would not have invested in her.

    How sad for her.

ETA - with that kind of attitude I am not surprised breeders are being more careful about thier imports.

Genuine question. Not sure if I have missed something here or on another thread, but why couldn't you breed pure from her? Are there not other dogs in the UK or are they too related?

I find it sad that someone 'invests' in a dog for the sole purpose of breeding from it...

Obviously you see nothing wrong with that, but my dogs are something I invest in to enrich my life and yes - I love doing things with them (agility/HtM/obedience) and will hopefully breed one day....but so say that the dog cannot be just a pet is quite frightening to me and certainly not someone I would want within my chosen breed.

It's not just about having faith in the breeders, what about the puppy owners? You'll always get idiots who will cross them.

I hope that they keep their 'clamp' firmly in place!

Perhaps if there is a sense of pride or whatever in the pure breds in the UK then the owners will be less keen to do this?

At the moment they just appear to be breeding stock; pushing out pups.:?

Genuine question Sandra. Your website says you have one 'Arctic White' boy left for sale from your previous litter and three males from this current litter. Is this correct?

I am just wondering if supply, is out weighing demand, ref the wolf dog crosses???

Oh wow, with a statement like that, I can't belive anyone would buy a pup from you. But I guess puppy farmers, some how, always make their ends meet. So sad.

Sorry but I thought puppy farmers kept their dogs in kennels, have many litters a year from many dif breeds and move the pups out asap and as young as 5wks old, and do naught with them or mum n dad that is needed, not have just 2-3 litters a year all raisd in their home and spend time to socialise them, vet check, vacc, micro chip and DNA them oh not forgetting making sure mum n dad are hipscored? Since when have puppy farmers done all this??
