Does this 'Type' of GSD Still Exist?

Ever since someone pointed out that our Shunka resembled the 'Littlest Hobo', I have had a thing for that 'type' of GSD.

Do they still exist? And do they have a specific name?

Here are some pics of Chuck Eisenmann's dogs , this is the 'type' I am refering to:

Yes although predominately in the US, occasionaly in the UK although its normaly when people cross West German Showline to West German workline or other similiar mixing of the lines especialy if they carry the sable colour.

There used to be a Littlest Hobo lookalike in the village where I lived in Cumbria, but I have never seen one since.

Nice looking dogs, but I prefer my black/golds :)

Thanks all for your input xx

Skilaki, your dogs are lovely xxx

I have just had a look around the net and it seems that
Chuck Eisenmann bred his own dogs. I have not been able to find any pics of GSDs that look like his dogs, that aren't his dogs.

Well if that's the case then I would say they are cross bred at some point and not pure GSD's. It's like the woman who breeds merle poodles in the states. She is the only one who breeds them and yet still claims that they are pure. Funny how they've not cropped up in anyone elses kennel!

'For 35 years, Chuck Eisenmann has devoted his life and skills to the famous light-face mask breed of registered German shepherd that he developed. For the past 18 of those years, millions of viewers, old and young, have come to know Eisenmann's dogs in the weekly television program, The Littlest Hobo. '

I get the impression that he bought 'London', his first GSD then bred the others, over the years and I guess he kept the ones that looked like London.

Ref the wolfcross I have seen a site which has pics on of these dogs and suggests they are wolf crossess, but it says that about all GSDs.

I agree, they are very 'special' looking and were super intelligent apparently xxxx

    Hi Nes

Lovely looking dogs, in an ideal world would they be your choice for a fourth dog? :)

    Hi You xxxxx

If there was a litter and the parents were just like Chuck's dogs in temprement, intelligence, health and of course 'that look', I would be tempted;-) , I think xxxxxx But I guess it will never happen.........................................
