Here are two threads, (all pics I took myself). One was at a Ute Show, one at a NID show. Utonagans: http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=92680 Northern Inuits http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=92306
Just thought I would put some Utonagan piccies up, these are a few of the ones I know, am still waiting for permission off people, so I may be adding to it
I don't feel that the piccies of the Scottish Show did our dogs justice to be honest, the majority of us can't make it up there so that isn't a good representation in my opinion.
Hi Tawneywolf Going on this photo and bearing in mind i'm just a pet owner and do not wish to offend anyone, i'd say from left the first dog looks like an NI, the second like a Ute and the third a crossbreed of unknown, maybe collie x GSD? This of course is just my opinion and i think all three of them are gorgeous.
The 1st and 3rd are litter brother and sister, the middle is my girl's litter sister. You must remember that we have both rough and double coated in our breed, my favourite being the rough coated.
I think this thread just proves that these dogs have no breed type but are just a type of dog. They are all lovely dogs in their own right - but what a diversity!
Hi Tawneywolf I think that just goes to show why 'joe public' struggle with working out these dogs, its fair to say they all look different = yes?
I love the fact that we have so many different colours within them, and also like I said we have the rough coated, some people are into the double coated, but me, give me the long haired cuddly ones everytime!!!
Sorry Liz I missed this. I tink the first two look more like what you would expect an Ni to look like, or what "I" would. More bone but not coarse or ugly like some I have seen. The last dog looks like a youngster and although very "NI" to me, looks more like a Husky cross, no offence intended.
I go to training classes on a Sunday which is run by the local German Shepherd club. Not one GSD looks the same to me, a lot of them have difficulty walking due to the severe angulation which seems to be popular with them. It is quite common to hear people discussing what to do when their legs fail and they can no longer get up, and whether it is best to PTS before they can get to that unhappy stage. The number of health problems I hear about are frightening. I will stay with my Utonagans I think!!! I don't have to walk behind them and watch their hocks nearly on the ground and touching for a start.
Not offended in the slightest Dawn, i view all my dogs as crossbreeds but am interested to hear which dogs or dog people think is actually NI before saying how many of them are if in fact any of them are Dont anybody dare say they are ugly
They are NOT ugly in any way!! I dont mean that ANY dog is ugly in true life, just in comparison tho te breed standard as I read or perceive it.
He belongs to a friend of mine, I will pass the compliment onto her. He is a lovely chap, very good natured and totally laid back.
Liz i know which dogs are what.. but if i didn`t i`d say all three look like NI`s. I still see the long coats as Utes and the short coats as NI`s, even though i know both "types" have both coats.
