I dont believe everything that is written there just like i dont believe everything that is written here or any other forum but i do believe there is no smoke without fire and am keen to know whats going on. I dont think its helpful when wolfdog owners come on and defend everything to the hilt without even considering the allagations might be true, its not just one person saying it afterall. I do understand people defending their choice of breed, thats fine, i have nothing against Saarloos and CWD but if the one's in the U.K are here under false pedigree's from a dodgy kennel people have the right to be aware of whats being said, they have parted with huge sums of cash. Even if he does not believe the allagations himself i would have thought the least CR could do was to have issued some kind of statement on his forum in answer to the rumours seeing as all the dogs sold here are direct from him and prior to that the kennel in question. You must have noticed he removed the link to the kennel from his site, why?
This has been a big concern of mine, together with the fact that the NIs were slated, very publically, because of their apparent health problems and uncertainty of pedigrees. Some of these health problems were said to be genetic e.g. epilepsy. Why are Saarloos and CWD being crossed with dogs that are apparently of such poor health? How is this going to help create a healthy cross? Sorry to jump on a thread but I've asked this question a number of times, yet nobody has answered it. Edited - I've started a new thread on this subject. Thanks.
I think that if you read that thread (as I guess you have) then it kind of concludes that every one gets fed up with un-substantiated allegations that started in 2007. Nothing new has been added in a while. There appears to be only one source talking. I think if there were any 'court case' then those championing this line of enquiry would have been only too keen to publicize it. A court case in Holland against any activity of a French kennel makes no sense. He claims that the kennels are now shut down? Absolute nonsense, was there myself last month. Bed time.
Hi Shona, Youl have to forgive me as Im sometimes a little slow on the uptake but, again, youve got me confused. Last week you said youd never met a wolfdog but now you are training two dogs of "questionable breeding". I can assume from the earlier question I asked that you think there is a possibility of recent wolfblood in these animals. If this is correct, may I make a humble suggestion? Genuinely, as you have no experience of wolfdogs maybe it would be an idea to ask the advice of an expert in assertaining wolf content through appearance and behaviour. Wolfdogowner has already explained he has experience of hundreds of wolfdogs. Maybe, with your clients permission, you could share photos and experiences privately with wolfdogowner. Sort of the meeting of two great minds if you like-the experienced wolf dog owner and the highly accomplished dog expert! If he is unable to help im sure he has many contacts who may be able to.
possibly you missed this I think I have asked all the questions I needed to over the last couple of weeks on temprament and training, not only on the threads you have taken part in, or are aware of, SC gave some very useful info. Given that experiance with labs or other large breeds is all that is needed to have this breed, I dont think there is much to be concerned about. Thanks anyway.
Hi Wolfdogowner There is actually more than one source talking on the breed specific forum but you are right i have seen no proof either way, its all hearsay. I believe i seen the kennels in question is now under new ownership? Until such time as a court case does transpire then i expect the thread will go round and round in circles so i will depart the thread until such time as evidence comes to light. I do so hope that the dogs that have arrived here are the genuine article and people (breeders and owners alike) have not been ripped off. I believe most members of Dogsey just want to put a stop to bad breeding practices and give the public as much information as they can so they can make an informed choice, if Labs and Lab kennels were under question there would be just as many threads about them, this is a large forum covering many types of dog. I'm off to participate in some of the other sections, hope you get your wall finished today
Shona, Let me direct you to the above comments you made with particular attention to the last paragraph. It seems as you clearly dont want to utilise wolfdogowners expertise in any respect maybe you should take a little of your own advice? Anyway I think you lost me at "Labrador" Guess Ill just have to bumble along in my silly wee way without your superior skills I leave it to the experts. The thing we probably agree with about working with horses and dogs is that they always tell you the truth..... goodbye Shona
I have read up to page 9, sorry, couldn't be bothered reading the pettyness of some of the posts anymore ... Genuine question, the thread starter but I shouldv'e known it would have been side tracked...irritating to say the least... I don't think the cvwd x's or saarloos x's are wild animals, my original question is genuine, is there a chance knowing the wolf content that these types of crosses have that siblings of such are born with a will to be more free than say my EBT, could that be the reason early socialisation is needed ? Dogs feel secure with routines, why is it contradictory for cvwd x or saarloos x to have a routine ? yet the same poster contradicted what was being said by using a typical dog analogy, don't go out when she howls because she will expect it sorry but I do find that funny ! Why have a dog with you all day then shove it out in a kennel at night surely that causes confusion ? I know the excuse was they will wreck the house playing at night, do these dogs never sleep ? Can any of the wolf dog owners who have posted on here hold there hands up and say they are totally trusting of they're chosen breed...
Thats a bit unfair.....I would be shocked by anoyone who trusted thier dog 100% in every situation. Whether Wolfdogs or not they are still animals and it is not qalways fair to expect them to behave like people. (I have just had a JRT owner on the phone - his dog bit his granddaughter last night - she is 3 the dog is 2 and he has had it 6 months)
Your original post is confusing. You talk about wolf look a like hybrids without being specific but refer to a bitch that ran away and had pups; this presumably being Genova, a Saarloos as I have heard of no other. But you now talk of saarloos and cwd cross. So define the parameters of your thread please. Your last post is equally confusing. You appear to quote from various posts but cant be bothered to quote from any one in particular, nor does it appear that you can be bothered to read the posts fully. You also state that you cant be bothered to read the thread completely. So the only conclusion is that you are not genuinely interested and have only started the post to perpetuate a non discussion. The expectation that any one would come back for a reasonable discussion here is pretty slim. Everytime an owner comes on here they are ridiculed, insulted, and then their dogs are insulted and ridiculed. The posters that do this then 'hit and run' to other threads to spout forth more wisdom based seemingly on a complete lack of experience or their own personal hang-ups. If there were genuine and carefully considered questions posted and those that reply aren't met with a barrage of abuse then some useful discussion may take place.
Looking throught this thread...which I was genuinly interested in BTW....it was a Wolfdog owner who first ridiculed it....yes other posters were bad by reacting but it seems to me as a 6 of one 1/2 a dozen of the other. It seems to me that there have been some genuine questions asked....I myself have - but either the questions have been lost or ignored...I don't know which. Its why I started the other thread...sadly no-one has really commented on that.
Wolfdog owner? As far am I am concerned there are two Wolfdog owners on this thread (unless I have missed any) Wolfdogowner and Navajo, the others are crossbreeds.
thanks Tassle yes it did sound unfair...I meant it more for these specialist breed types rather than our more domesticated dogs though the whole reason for stopping at page 9 was that none of what I was reading had any relavance to the original question... Non discussion is being caused by posts included and from yourself, you have yet to answer the original question with your educated opinion...
Hmmm... maybe you didn't read the thread either? Look at Geezer on post 6 and Navajo on post 19? When I came in I just asked reasonable questions (post 21). Check your facts before you make sweeping statements like that. Though I would agree on your post about trusting a dog. Didn't see your other thread.
