    Which home was that?

Merlins, history in brief: he went from a home where he was properly fed and watered to SC, then he went to some bloke who chained him up , then he went back to SC, then he went to the lady with the Husky X, then he either went back to SC or did he go straight to the woman where he attacked a man? Have I missed any out? I don't think so. I agree Kate RIP but I also think that people should be aware how others mistreat dogs.

Well that just blows the SC looked after him well story out the window then doesn't it?!

It makes me sick to my stomach that dogs like this are still being abused.
Truely disgusting and the people involved should be disgusted in themselves and the followers who believe there lies are nothing more than niave idiots!

Just did hun, think we posted at the same time, I do see your point on the angle but it still makes me sick that this poor dog was used and abused this way and what makes it worse for me is NO-ONE did anything about it.
It was brought to the attention of someone who was at the NIS at the time and it was ignored.
I know im seen to be choosing sides some times and i understand that but it really p***es me off that nothing was done by either side but yet everyone seems aware of the prolem now the poor dog is dead.
There is no excuse for it at all

Looks like the judge felt that he was in good condition to place him:?

just waht I was thinking LH!

Would SC really bring an abused animal to a show?? or would she hide him away??

I have seen pugs and yorkies being held that tight in a show ring..that means nothing.. He certainly doesn't look like he is about to rip out the judges jugular!..

I wonder if this is the mal owning judge??

Betcha wish you hadnt posted the pics now eh Nes? Good examples of trying to make somebody out as keeping the dog in poor condition, but in actual fact by showing the first and last pics, PROVES he wasnt at all, or he was just as "chunky" months after SC had him!! Nice one!

    Jem.
I understand your anger, but its not all one sided.

I think he looks a bit ribby, but looks in good condition but out of coat which will make him appear thinner too.

I have Merlins brother Moon, he is a big healthy lad but my god I have a time keeping weight on him, he isnt a greedy dog at the best of times but he is so energetic, he is worse when he knows one of my girls are in season, he seems to waste away before my eyes, Im always giving him an extra bit of food in attempt to build him up but he will only eat what he wants, Abbies heard me moaning about his weight loads of times lol.

Just read back on this thread, ref Merlin and his character he and Timber attacked an onlead dog at the Cambridge Show, this dog had a nasty bite to his side and the owners took him to the vet, that is how lovely and placid he was!

This was the same show where he had to be pinned down by SC because he went for her. Soon after she rehomed him to his third home, hers being his second.

If Merlin was mistreated at his original home as Janie has said, was it ethical for SC to use him as a stud dog? Needless to say he was not hip scored until after he was used at least twice as a stud, or was it three times.... It was common for SC to breed and then get her dogs hip scored, Merlin, Breeze, Wilo (she also has a high score) (she said this is what breeders do as otherwise they cannot afford to score their dogs!) , she advised my girls breeder to do the same and my girls breeder, has been slagged off ever since as it turned turned out he (stud) had a high score, the difference is she retired him straight away and learnt from the lesson, all her dogs are now scored before being bred from. SC went on to stud Merlin out, regardless of the score!

So, would you agree that perhaps Merlin was not in poor condition, but like your Dog difficult to keep weight on?
