Do you ever think before you type? What does that even mean? And seeing as my late grandparents lived near Miami, I would be careful with what you say.

You appear to have me at a disadvantage here - I was merely making the point that there are similarities inasmuch as both are close-knit communities that do not suffer outsiders lightly... why that should incur anybody's wrath is beyond me?

Do you mean the close-knit alligators? I am just trying to understand your insult...since there are not many people that live in the actual everglades....its mostly swamp and alligators...

And for a community that doesn not suffer outsiders lightly...i do not own an NI, nor do i live on the same side of the world....and yet I have never felt "like an outsider" maybe its just people with bad attitudes that they don't like.

Excuse me if I go back to the new standard, I am trying to visualize this new NI dog, well laid back shoulders and moderate upper arm (very long so the elbow misses the long ribs) , do they say how far in front of the dog the front feet should be, sounds like a standard for a rocking horse, apart, that is, from the well sprung rib and slab sides, believe the rocking horse could be said to require a barrel rib cage.

Well, Arthur, I believe I was friendly and welcoming to you on the other forum, right down to trying to help with your pic quest. It is a shame you feel the way you do and I am a bit saddened that you feel it is ok to label us all as one, but that I guess is your perogative.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does "ink marked black and tan colours" mean?
Does the new standard mean that piebalds (splash coats) are now acceptable?

I interpreted it as saying such colouring is a fault.

It wasn't, and was not meant to be, an insult... where do you get that idea from? I could just as easily said it was like visiting a small Welsh village (and I am half Welsh myself) but then anyone not in the UK would have understood the point.

And where do you get off talking about my attitude? I have *never* given any reason for that sort of comment - to you or anyone else!

There are exceptions to every rule...

It will need an exceptionally strong muscles and tendons to hold it all together I would have thought, not only well laid shoulder with long upper arm of moderate angle but a flexible pasterns to cope with too, one assumes that they are particularly flexible as some amount of flexing is the norm and would not in this case be mentioned. Perhaps they meant the leg would not be straight when standing but flexed at the pastern, would think it would need to be with the called for arrangement at the other end of these front limbs as one would expect the hind quarters to be in balance it is very hard to get a picture of the standing dog in profile.

Its good isnt it!! Now with the head of course they have to have a slightly domed skull. Bare this in mind when you see the vast majority have flat skulls, I only hope they havent confused the markings on many NI's as appearing domed!! Dogs like Nes' Thunder, Quimiq, Ammik, Raven etc.. and so many others all have round eyes which of course is also wrong, Raven is also taller than he is long, so his entire body shape is incorrect!!

Im struggling with the "tapering" bit on the muzzle too. Is that lack of underjaw? Cos they ask for a strong muzzle that tapers, I mean you could interpret it as meaning snipey if the top jaw tapers, but there is no mention of the bottom jaw?

Well, Dawn the Elkhound has a wedge head with a tapering muzzle but it does not go in for a domed head, sounds like a Cocker.

I really really don't want to enter an NI argument... And I mean REALLY... but from previous discussions and what I can glean from the NI breeding originally... Shouldn't the NI standard look as close to this as possible?

So if you were to describe this 'dog' in terms of proper conformation language how would it come out? Does he have 'long ribs'? Sloping shoulders? I am not trying to stir anything up (but am aware that in my general ignorance I probably will). But I genuinely don't understand what any of these terms mean and so have no chance at all at trying to visualise the dog based on the breed description.

Probably just as well I am not a breeder then:)
