Welcome Jay, now Blue is a colour that is natural among Staffordshire Bull Terriers and any litter may contain pups of this colour however good breeders with good and healthy lines may not be prepared to put you on their lists if it seems your main priority is the colour of the pups coat.

You should contact some breed clubs go and meet some breeders and then put your name down with 2 or 3 of them for a puppy. By all means mention that it would be nice if the pup were blue but I would not make it your main reason for wanting one of their pups. The colour, after all, is not that important to the health and welfare of the pup.

I am sure you know but the breed come in the following colours, Red, fawn, white, black or blue and any of these colours with white. Brindle is not desirable in dog that are wished to be shown. I would think that some lines will never throw a Blue and others will do so often so once you get to know a few breeders you should be able to see which lines have more chance of producing the blue you want.

Great advice apart from the Brindle bit,
    Taken from the standard,
    Colour

Red,fawn, white, black or blue or any one of these colours with white.Any shade of brindle or any shade of brindle with white.Black and tan or liver colour highly undesirable.

There are plenty of Brindle dogs that are shown and do well in the ring,
CH Valglo Casanova At Crossguns JW is Black Brindle and holds the breed CC Record and also took BOB three years running at Crufts :)
We see all variations in the brindle colour,Tiger brindle, Brindle,Mahogany Brindle, Blue Brindle,Black Brindle etc...:)

You may want to contact the Valglo kennels I know they have had a few Blues pop up in a few litters recently.

Your are right Sal, as you know, think it was a bit too early for me as I know very well that a lot of dogs you think are black are in fact brindle.

Melsgems - using a blue stud does not mean you will get blue pups, depends on what he is carrying and what the bitch is carrying. Don't know the means of hereditary for colour in the Stafford is or if it is a dilute black or not but you need to look at health and conformation first and worry about the colour last.

There seems to be a lot of blue staff pups about lately, more than other colours, I've seen 3 or 4 at the vets in the past few months. Lovely pups too :) I hope you find one, theres some excellent advice in this thread.

    Lol,
I did think it was unusual :)
You right blue is a dilute Black and a recessive gene.

There are many blue staffords that are being bred for money, not to the breed standard or for temperment, and then being charged a whole lot of money for, more than a stafford that has come from health tested parents and good breeders.
Please when you enquire about a puppy ask the breeder if the sire and dam are L2 and HC tested, if the breeder replies that these conditions don't crop up in there lines, walk away.
At the end of the day go to shows and see what line of stafford you like, do you like the short stocky type or the more athletic type, and then talk to breeders, who can help you.
Like a previous poster stated, Val Pickett (Valglo) has a blue bitch, but don't think she is breeding this bitch any time soon.
Overall blue is just a colour, research your lines and your breeders because there are a few who breed for colour and not the welfare of the breed.

    Angela.
