With all due respect I think this "breed" has a bit of everything in it, because everyone and anyone is breeding it, and still cross breeding, I am not talking about people in the"clubs/forums" etc, Im talking about people that have bought NI's or wolflookalies or in fact those that say their dog actually have wolf in them, (you would not beleive how many people I have heard say that one,) if there was not mal in the original mix, and I am not saying there was or wasnt because I certainly dont know the true history of this breed, but I can more or less there will be NI's, wolflookalikes that do now have mal in them somewhere along the line, and the mals themselves are probably dogs that have been bred by people that dont have a clue either. so I would say there are some dogs out there with mal in them NOW even if they were not in the original dogs bred. although to be honest I cant really see mal in the dogs that have been shown on here.

Thats quite alright with me Mo. I totally expected someone to say they couldent see it but my dog is a crossbreed and has quite a few other dogs in him too so i would not expect to see a lot of any of them.

The last few dogs in this thread..are really pretty.. and have a bit more "build" about them..... If all NI looked like them I would be quite impressed..

They don't look as skinny, and leggy and stretched as the NI usually do

Louise, when you refer to 'stretched' do you mean length, height or both?

Thing is arnt NI's supposed to have the longer leaner look? to look more wolfish, although some of the dogs shown are bulkier and do appear to have a mal like look, that ISNT the look they should have as far as I can tell? otherwise why bother crossing? people could just go and buy a mal? obviously being a malamute enthusastic and owner, I dont agree with the x breeding, and would love for it to stop, there has been enough x ing now, and by rights the "look" should be there.

    Hi Mo

I don't think there has been any recent Mal input into these dogs.

I know if you look at the adverts out there, there seems to be a growing number of GSD x Mal litters out there.

I am not condoning crossing these dogs.
Here is a pic I came across they are only 1/4 Malamute, the rest GSD. Would love to see how they turn out , the grey ones look a stunning colour xxxxxx

Im not sure I agree with you NEs given this link below is a dog from the kennel that bred your Kaliska. It could aslo explain her size in comparison to other NI's.

Dont you think this is "very" Mal? Your dog is also on here, so Id assume this is either a dog they bred or one from the same litter?

That dog is my girls uncle xxxxx He is much bigger than my girl and has a fab personality xxxxx

He is the same dog I put on here a few posts up, I think it is his size, and shape.

Yeah, I see where people are coming from. But what I am saying is, it could be something that comes up now and again. Like the white one in Bev's litter , you and Bev both agreed (if my memory serves me correctly) that she reminded one of a GSD.

I mean length..they look far too long..

    Hope they enjoy it..
Don't you maybe wish for KC recognition, then that way you could run your own dogs at rallies? Its must be much more satifsying running your own dogs rather than someone elses
