Actually, I've decided he doesn't have a breed, he's just a giant heffalump.

Im talking about experience with the breed itself. Not whats in books.

I hate the term Seperation Anxiety its used as an excuse for alot of other problems. I would say 99% of dogs I have fostered Ive been told they have SA when in reality they do not, its normally lack of exercise :-(

What I don't get is where he gets his size from though. He's around 31 inches at the shoulder and am going to get him weighed when I get a chance. He's filled out (3 yrs old in May), but not overweight.

Not that I know of, but wouldn't there be other characteristics (will have to look them up to be honest, not expert enough to know about mastiffs).

I can't quite see the resemblance between this and Lupi.

Very few Malamutes are this height (when measured properly), the UK standard gives the upper height as 28".

Lupi is, to be fair, large for the (NI) breed too.

The only real time he was accused of having malamute in him was with a person who had owned a wolf x malamute in Canada, and thought Lupi was the same breed. Guess that would be a wolamute technically these days, lol.

Plus a dog food delivery person.

There's only 2 others I have seen as big as your Lupi and one of them had a questionable parentage xx
Lupi is a cracking dog though and those pic's dont do his size any justice believe me he's a big boy

Edited to add im not saying Lupi has questionable parentage in the slightest sorry x

think it was Tibetan mastiff that may be in the NI
which may explain some of the soft ears that do not come from the sibe/mal/gsd mix

BTW Lupi is gorgeous, I think people who have not met NI in the flesh, don't realise the size of the dogs

    edited to add

I have met a fair few male NI the size of Lupi, my Talli is too
