Well what do you expect when you make such a toffee nosed remark, as if we are all needy little NI folk desperately trying to compare our inferior dogs to your ultimately superior ones,on your planet anyway, thats how it came across. And as for being rude, thats nothing compared to some of the snide comments you have made in many an NI thread.

Hm, at the dog park...I always head to other mals...maybe I really want a mal and just didn't know about it???....oh wait!!...Mal owners also come to me...maybe they really just want a husky???...i wonder why we didn't think of this before?!?!?!?! I can't believe that we all seem to have made the wrong decision....

Oh wait...maybe thats because all northern breed lovers seem to stick together as we tend to have more common interests and familiar stories to share compared to hanging out with some of the smaller breed owners....as they say, birds of a feather...sorry that you seem to be inconvienced by people trying to make small talk...how very rude of them.

I too would be interested in finding out which lines this dog is from? if you could supply that information it would be much appreciated.

also re this thread, I cannot say that there is definately NOT mal behind these dogs, purely because there has been so many lies about their background, its difficult to say, but IMO, if there is mal there? then IMO its probably not a very good example of the breed. Although many of the dogs are nice looking dogs, NON have I seen where I can hand on heart say wow that has mal in it somewhere, the dogs I have personally seen do not have the bone of a mal, the spring of rib, the outline, many of the dogs I have seen appear slab sided, rather lean, and rangy, they do appear to be more sibe/gsd crosses.

I suggest you go and view my website and have a look at the 'my dogs' page and then 'Digger'

I have no snobbery when it comes to dogs, its just my observations. Like I said before if you dont like it dont read it.

I wish you would all understand that its not the dogs I have the problem with or the pet owners.

Sorry LunaKitty, they are not a Northern breed

If you can give me a viable reason as to why the NI was created I will listen to it. Because it looks like a wolf is not a reason to create a breed though and does not make it northern.

That was a good, non biased post. I see what you are saying, but at the same time...I think that NI may have got height from Mals, as huskies and GSD will not have kiddos that tall, as far as keeping the breed looking Northern or closer to what their goal was, Mal would have been the best choice. I have a handful of Mal friends, and one has a Mal that (IMO) looks more like a big husky. He doesn't have that nice bulky body that a working Mal needs...he is quite lean and even his skull is a bit more narrow. But the owner swears up and down that he is pure bred...I am wondering if this might have been the "type" of mal used...like you said, not a good example of the breed as far as looks go...but since they weren't looking to create better Malamutes, then I guess the founder's breeds' standards weren't that imporant as long as they were a bit closer to the type that was invisioned....

Obviously, I don't have any proof....nor do I really care what went into them...as it was so long ago and they are no longer breeding different breeds into the NI. The truth of the matter is that they are here, now, and it doesn't look like any amount of complaining is going to make them dissapear...

They still have all the characteristics of a northern breed. Double coats, the more natural up turned ears, intelligence (that witty kind that they can use to outsmart their owners, that you don't see in other breeds...no offense ment, but if you have ever owned a husky or mal, you should understand that), the body build to be able to pull/work, they suffer from separation anxiety (just like most of the northern breeds, as they like to be part of a pack)....sorry, they may not have been bred for a purpose, if you like, but they are still a northern breed by looks and by nature. You don't have to agree with me, but I am sure that many others do.

Loads of dogs have pointy ears and double coats and are considered intelligent - not just Northern breeds :) would you call GSD a Northern breed too - people always seem to forget the GSD and yet that is what I see the most in the mix (I love GSD)

Many of the Inuity types would worry me if their owners put them in harness as there is too little front and insifficient substance - I would only have these dogs in harness following hip and elbow scoring (I scored my Mal before starting work too) I certainly do not think that the Inuit types are sled dog physique .... although have run mine with a lovely Utonagan :)

I don't know any Mals or Sibes with seperation anxiety ....

I agree, seperation anxiety is not the norm, with Mals at least.

I have been asked if Lupi is a Wolamute, a malamute, an Akita (yes really, lol), along with husky, wolf, wolfdog, snowdog, etc  .

The malamute by people who know of them. I think Lupi is much stockier and larger than most inuits though. Would put a pic here, but don't want my giant torn to bits...

I should have only spoken for huskies...as it is in all of my books about huskies. Sorry for speaking without doing the research about mals first, I just made a generalization that I thought to be true, but I don't really have the time to look it up about malamutes right now. will you forgive me?

Not the norm in Sibes either huni :?

Tania put a piccy up of your boy, he wont get torn to bits. I will post a piccy of my 'special' Sibe if you do.
We are not quite sure what he is husky/GSD/Mal sometimes he looks more Mal then he looks like a full Sibe and then he can look like a GSD.... I just call him the confuser LOL

According to all of my books, it is the norm...Sibes like to be part of a pack...they don't like to be by themselves...I know this as I did more research than most before we got Ami. I have a huge collection of books that say that sibes have SA if they are the only dog...they are at my house )where I am not) and I can create a bibliography with direct quotes if you want.
