I used the term as I read it 'inbreeeding in UK Mal Pedigrees', I guess inbreeding means what inbreeding means. You were the one Loiuse13 saying that NIDs were still inbred, well they are a very young breed. Mals have been around for much much longer as you yourself have pointed out and it still happens (thanks for being honest ). Face facts , inbreeding occurs in all breeds, whether we like it or not.
Of course, it was a website. Just going for my dinner. Will hunt it out and put it on when I get back xxxxxx
Very few ethical breeders in-breed to the extent you are refering to. I have mentioned on here in the past about 'accidental' litters between brother and sister however these are certainly not the norm Thank you
Yes I did say in some lines..That would be the CRAP ones SO if you want to like the NI to the crap Mal breeders then thats up to you.. Can you please tell us what you beleive IN breeding is..and what you beleive LINE breeding is?? I have already said yes Inbreeding occurs..BUT not to the severe extent as it does in NI.. They arren't NI they are Mahlek INuits..
SC is not breeding NI dogs, so whatever breeds SC adds to her own breeding plan will not affect NI dogs in any way. SC is not on here to answer so if you are interested in SC's dogs it would be easier to email and ask. Tida are planning to add new genes, as they accept that the NI breed is inbred and has problems. This information is available on the new Tida website. What these new dogs will be is up to the Tida committee to discuss. .
I am shocked, though I shoudn't be that you refer to dogs you feel are less superior due to breeding practices as 'CRAP ones', disgusting terminology ref the dogs:twisted: , these are peoples pets you are talking about, living creatures who did not ask to be put on this earth. Greyhawk, the website link is below: http://www.alaskanmalamuteuk.co.uk/?p=p_15&sName=litters And some lovely dogs they have too xxxxxxx
I speak on a regular basis with friends I have on the TIDA commitee and have never heard them say the NID breed is inbred and has problems. So I suggest that anyone with questions for TIDA, contact the TIDA committee.
Thanks for that. To be honest I personally would take what was written on someone's personal website with a pinch of salt unless they have the facts to back it up. I do think it is a bit of a leap to believe that a lot of UK mals are inbred based on one comment posted on a personal website from someone who hasn't been in the breed for a great deal of time and who bought their dogs from people who don't endorse their pups and don't health test.
Yes, I have to day I agree with you. But I also believe it works in all walks of life and with all dog breeds. Unfortunately others on here seem to disagree. IT would be interesting where the quoted website's owners have based their opinions of inbreeding in UK Mals from. I must say however, that the above Mal breeders look very serious about their dogs and like reputable breeders. I particularly like this bit 'As members of AMCUK, AMWA, and ISDS and being on the AMCUK breeders list, breeding is done following the breeders code of ethics, lifetime support, welfare of dogs, health checks, etc.'
From What I know has been said, it is up to the breeders to add in a breed/s they wish, and as far as I can tell these dogs need to fit TIDA's new breed standard :?
Yes it certainly would be interesting to see what they based their opinions on although I am guessing it is on the practice of unethical breeders. My own view on what constitutes a reputable breeder is a bit harsher than most, but even if a breeder had their own dogs tested I wouldn't even contemplate them if none of the other dogs in the pedigree were health tested.
Inbreeding is an interesting area, some support it and some don't. I have just come across another Mal breeder (USA) this one talks about the advantages. I am not going to put their website here as we are going away from the topic of the thread but it is interesting to hear/read different peoples perspectives ref the same breed.
Could you PM it to me? I am not saying that inbreeding does not have it's place When undertaken by a breeder who knows the lines inside out it can produce fantastic offspring, however over time you don't want to inbreed too much else you will loose genetic diversity. I personally am not against inbreeding if it is done for a particular purpose by someone who knows the lines inside out. However I will disagree that UK Mals are very inbred
I speak to various people from the TIDA Committee actually, not that it is any of your business. You call yourself a breeder and think that you know more than pet owners or are better qualified ref these dogs than pet owners who have owned these dogs far longer than you have, people who are not interested in making a quick buck but have a genuine passion for the breed. I have seen you post elsewehere aswell making out just because you call yourself a 'breeder' you are in a better position to make judgements ref these dogs. I think not look at the track record of your litters , one litter when your bitch was less than a year old (the fact that she was not in your care is not a valid excuse either, you gave her away on breeding terms), then the Breeze litter which is more than likely a litter that will develop epilepsy. Then we have Nanuq, who you say you will breed from even though you believe she carries the epilepsy gene. Disgusting. Obviously no regard for the breed, the individual dogs or the poor owners who will end up with the heartache if they have a dog who is a sufferer, not to mention what the poor dog will have to go through.
And yes I sound like a broken record but it is wrong to breed in such a circumstance and I hope you change your mind ref breeding from a dog whom you believe is a carrier.
Yes Nanuq did have a litter too young, AGAINST my wishes, I did not find out that she had had a litter till they were 3 weeks old, he also gave 4 of these pups to the RSPCA!!! This man is now on TIDA committee, and also treatened to shoot me if I turned up at his house to get her back... nice person :? I do not believe Nanuq is a carrier nor have I said so! As I have said before, that seems to be going through one ear abd out of the other, I did not know Breeze was a carrier when I breed her, when I thought she might be I contacted Jeff sampson, if you know better than him, then I surgest you talk to the KC and aply for the job youself!
IF she were, I did not say I BELIEVED she IS :? As I said I am going on the advise of JS if you think you know better than him then contact the KC.
