I often notice a diff in coat type/length... but Im not an expert on them.. ETA: of what I have seen the utes are slightly bigger made... Im going to stick my neck right out and say.... I have prefered the utes I have seen to the NI's..... runs
aww go on, really stick your neck out. What you really meant to say was 'I dont like NI's but lurrrrve Utes' *hide* Now Melzy, what you really should have asked was "Whats the difference between an NI, Ute and a Tamaskan?"
The utes were an offshoot....anyone what to guess at this one? ....the GSDX is about 26kgs....and 23inches to the shoulder.... the......is 2 1/2 in this picture she was a bit younger in these ones...about 8 months
Don't worry about saying which one you prefer it is all about personal choice xxxxxx (Ref size I think it is fair to say there is similar variety in both breeds xx) I am going to dig out my show pics of each breed, may give OP an idea of the visual differences xxxx Ute Show: http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=92680&highlight=utonagan show NID Show: http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=92306&highlight=northern inuit show pics Hope links work xxx
She is not mine - she was handed in to the local rescue when she was 16 weeks. They were given everything the previous owner had so we know where she came from and what she was. She comes and stays sometimes when her owners go on holiday. By off shoot - I think they all started out as NI's then a couple of breeders split off and called the dogs different things - they may or may not have added anything else, and they may or may not have done things 'better' - but that is the differnce - the name and the people who breed them (my understanding).
OK, here are my Utonagan dogs Sulin Cariad Sulin Maelona The main difference is that in the NI the long rough coat is seen as a fault, whilst in the Utonagan it is not and also in the Utonagan blue eyes are a fault whilst in the NI it is not. I have to say I love the rough coat, because that is what my original dog had.
