However only a minority of those breeders are members here and of those that are, very few are actually posting here any more, or at least not lately.
BUT surely these reputable breeders KNOWS where their pups are and how old they lived too?? If ONE dog lived to 16 (call of the wild) thats good..but doen'st make it the average...he' was an exception..
I'm sure they do - but if they're either not members here or not posting/visiting here, then we're not going to find out here.
Here's my personal opinion on this - There are older NI's but they dont look like NI's as we know them today hence why nobody posts pics of them.
To find the AVERAGE age to which NIs live, you'd have to add up all the maximum ages and divide by the number of dogs. So if there were 10 NIs in total, living to the ages of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively, then the AVERAGE age at which NIs die would be TEN AND A HALF.

I agree with this, so how can they possibly say they the NI "average" is 16? maybe this was based on the breeds that are behind the NI, ie malamutes, sibes,gsd's? mo
Because he would seem to be the only one who has lived to this age.. You would also think the NIS would have the deaths recorded somewhere aswell so as to ascertain an average life expectancy
