Another good post, have to say I totally agree. There are some gorgeous looking dogs but I for one wouldn't touch the breed with a barge pole, esp when there are so many established breeds already xxxxxxxxxx
No secrets either. Just people who want to cause trouble and SAY there are secrets. Anyone who's genuinely interested in finding out about NIs can meet up with the breeders and have all questions answered with no problems. Those who are only asking to cause provocation on internet forums are not taken seriously.
LOL>. whatever floats yer boat doll.. is that what the 12 hour boycott was.. getting everyone together to be told..we are not to be taken seriously.. Oh well.. Funny I read something earlier that REALLY opened my eyes..even more so than what I have read here..but however.. I suppose the NIS doesn't take anything seriously..including their own breeding practices, health tests etc etc..
As I said..... anyone genuinely interested can arrange to meet up with a breeder and find out for themselves. All health tests carried out will have paperwork.
OK.. well how abouts myself and KCjack and shona and borderdawn all go and meet up with some of these breeders to get the answers and WE can post them for the rest of the general public that are not privvy to this important info..
Here's one you can ask Louise, How do you know the breeding behind the dogs / puppies is accurate when it has come to light that some pedigrees are inaccurate, does the breeder know all the dogs within the pedigree, and who bred them ?
What difference does it make?? I am interested in the breed..I want to know the ins and outs.. the breeding practices, the health checks, the history.. Sal.. its all been asked..in fact someone posted a pedigree and no one has answered the questions stated about it..
Are you serious after seeing some of the paper work lately, you expect anyone to believe that xxxxxxxxx
BUT: If you wish to see the NIS code of ethics, you must now attend the AGM.... seems a bit strange to me... so people looking to buy a NI dog now, must be a member of the NIS,,, how much does that cost? before they can even see the COE for the breed............... ??
I have already asked for a list of shows... I am really looking froward to going to a few I also asked questions on faults about pedigrees.. after the NIS sec asked to see them, but she hasnt been back to answere the question yet.... now if the boycot is right we may need to give her some time to find out the story about them...
If I were head of the NIS, I know what I'd do: I'd be learning from experienced breeders and geneticists about the best way to move forward with outcrossing, and would halt all breeding until a satisfactory strategy for the future breeding is set out, and agreed on. I'd also be sifting through any archived documentation about the breed to try and ascertain more information about some of the ambiguous pedigrees. I'd then be writing an article to be posted on every NI-related website explaining the situation about the sketchy pedigrees, and what the NIS is trying to do regarding rectifying the inbreeding that has gone on. I think these would be my main priorities, then I'd be feeling a whole lot more positive about the future of the NI. Wonder what JK honestly thinks of my plan?
Thanks mse2ponder thats what I was hoping for, what we would do to put the mess right. I feel until JK resigns nothing will change.
I don't know, depends whether JK thinks anything needs to change and would be receptive to advice or not really? I don't know anything about her so can't really comment. Would you add anything to that? I believe the breed standard is being reviewed, but are there any photographs of good specimens (agreed by the committe/members) to go with it? I also thought that a set of diagrams showing good and bad conformation, like most breeds have, might be useful?
