Are they{BI dogs} still doing this due to a small gene pool? given one of the NI pedigrees I have seen recently, I think it would be a good option rather than the INbreeding taking place that seems to be going on with the NI

I don't know about that. I am just curious about this pup because I remembered seeing him on a website (and an add) when he was still at his breeders. From the website his mum isn't a GSD.

I know what you meant :)

BI's still x-breed, this is why they split with the NI as they theought the gene pool too small so they still cross with Mals, huskey's and GSD's along with other BI's & NI's. Hope that makes sense.

Was this in Suffolk? I'll have to dig out his certs, we didn't really get him because he was a pedigree, just we liked the look of him & what we'd read about the breed, plus his parents looked good.

But then he still isn't pedigree if he isn't BI to BI then (going by what the NI people say)

He is a BI x GSD

Im not really up on BI's to be honest i just thought if u had 2 full BI's then the pups would be BI's but if one parent was not BI then the pups wouldn't be.
I dont know if they are crossing BI's or not I just thought i'd comment :001:

He wouldn't be a pedigree in any case as the KC doesn't accept them as yet. I believe it's till a breed in creation. I suppose it's the same with any new breed until they can get a consistent result. The trouble I suspect is getting the consistent result yet having enough of the breed to avoid interbreeding.

I do know he is registered with the BI Club, so what does this make him? Personally I don't care whether he is or isn't, I think he's a great looking dog, with a fantastic temperament.

He is a stunning dog xxxxx I do believe it is the same kennels as his pic is on the website, the pic of him with his teddy that you have put on here. He is under a diff name on the website but that is prob the name his breeder gave him.

    Hi,

I've now found his registration and his kennel name is Lakota. Looks like the sire & G sire came from Shoshone kennels and the GG sire's & Dams from Mahlek kennels. They all seem to be registered with the BI Dog Club. Maybe I was wrong and the mother was a BI, it's just that she sure looked like a GSD to me.

Do any of these kennels ring any bells with anyone?

    Aren't they NI kennels???

Mahlek is.. I am sure Shoshone is too..

Can't you scan the pedigree and post it up here...

Does the pedigree have a society name on the top of the sheet??

BUt of course BI's started as NI's so it will depend how far back the pedigree goes or how far back those names are..

Hi, whilst I'm happy to discuss on here, I don't think I'm going to scan in my cert, far too much personal detail. I'm happy to answer any specific questions that anyone has. The cert shows the line back to all 8 GG sires & dams.

Yes the BI did come from the NI stock, I think the split was about 3 or 4 years ago, but can't swear to it.

Shoeshone, according to their website do both NI's & BI's. Mahlek seem to only do NI's, but they only seem to figure at the GG Sire & Dam stage, so that kinda makes sense.

You can scan it and blank out the personal stuff..

If you look back some threads someone else scanned in their cert..as it was WRONG! They had dogs in spaces that couldn't possibly be there..and the dogs pedigree was different to its half brother on one side..when it should have been the same..(that wasn't explained very well LOL)

so it could be yours is wrong too

I think I see what you mean. Thing is I don't really care, unless I decide to stud him:grin:. I've contacted Shoshone, who also seem to run the BIDC, and asked for info. But looking at their site they seem to breed from dogs with fairly low hip scores, so we'll see what they come back with.
