I would like a third option as I have seen some beautiful wolfy looking ones and some that dont. The only one I have seen in the flesh looked a poor Malamute.

I won't put up any pictures of my dogs, but to me I don't think they look like wolves. I think they look like northern inuits

I think you are the person I recently sent a video of one of my dogs to, and hope you agree that she is a beautiful northern inuit in her own right, that isn't expected by me to look wolfy.

Yes I do have some photo's of my dogs where they look very wolfy as I am sure many other NI, husky or mal etc owners may have.

We have also spent many days with wolves (that are not captive or caged) and do know what a wolf looks like.

Some do some don't, I have two friends with Malamutes who look incredibly wolfy some of the time - both top winners in the show ring so they also do a good line in looking Malamutey :)

Bridget looks wolfy - well trying to do a wolf at it's kill impression!

Lots of the dogs look wolfier depending on the pose too - stalky head down, tail low poses look wolfy .....

I'm not overly fond of wolves tho - prefer dogs, most wolves I have seen are a bit tatty and tufty :)

I have to say No, because there is no guarantee as to how your dog will look some may look quite wolfy, some may look like gsd's or other foundation breeds, or a x of these breeds, so as a breed overall, No they havent established themselfs well enough to say yes, though I think they are working towards it

Perhaps you ought to address that to Lokis Mom Abbie, as she clearly thinks they were bred to!

I voted no as to me the majority don't, although some do. The one I thought most resembled a wolf (especially in colouring) was a photo of a NI x GSD (I think it was?).

Nah. I had a sable GSD once. Now HE looked wolfy. But I still don`t know what a NI or a Ute are meant to look like. Go on - someone post a pic of `typical` dog please.

I tend to find NI owners take pictures of dogs with their heads down and say they are looking "Wolfy" whats that all about?

Head down posture is synonymous with wild type canids, especially when trotting, examples Grey wolf, African Wild Dog, Korean Jindo, NGSD etc

xero does'nt look very wolfy as she's patchy. but i've had people ask if she's a wolf dog loads of times. dawn xero nearly always walks with her head down and tail held low, she holds her head and tail up when she's causing mischief and running lol. maybe other NI's do the same, i don't know

I dont think I can honestly say I have seen any that I would say oh is that a wolf? so my answer is no, although I have seen some lovely looking dogs on here, but to me they just sort of look like mixes. I get asked many times are my mals wolfs, but more often than not this is by people who wouldnt know a Yorkie from a gt dane.

Wolves have a distinctly longer muzzle and wider set eyes... At least timber wolves do which it the ones I think NIs most resemble.. But I would agree with an earlier comment that 'wolfy ' is in the eye of the beholder...

I have wrangeld Selkie as a 'wolf' for a kids TV programme when she was in her younger acting days and she is a Samoyed! (Put some mud on her and squirty cream in her mouth and instant 'wolf'). I didn't have her registered as a 'wolf lookalike' the casting director just picked her out of the doggy portfolio. He said he was looking for something that would pass as a wolf to kids, but that wouldn't scare their parents... Hmmm... NI's would have looked too wolfy for him, so maybe they are wolfy looking after all...

    I think they look beautiful.

I love the mix of GSD and Husky/mal markings many of them have on their faces... That's quite wolfy...

Oh I dont know.. Too hard a question.. Kismet looks wolfy if caught in the right angle... Pharaoh does not.. Jackjack, nothing like a wolf.. Going to have to go with Wolfier than most.

    Ok I voted yes.

I dont mind pics of my boy being criticised. I criticise him all the time anyway for his behaviour

Keep in mine that he isnt a very good example of an NI. Patchy but way too cute  Maybe not the best pics to be used for this but hopefully others will post pics of their dogs.

He was only 7 months old in this pic

Not a great pic but he is doing the head down bit just for Borderdawn.
