OK, Look here is my stance on this and then i feel like leaving this section alone for a bit as people are clearly misunderstanding me . .

YES i know people don't know what Ela is and will call her a Husky ect . .

YES i know people will call them 'snow dogs' and it will always pee me off when adults do, esp when its followed by 'i want one' but thats more to do with my problem with fads in dogs and the way so many of the fad breed will end up in resuce.

I post on these subjects to share my experinces with people in the same boat amd have a bit of a light hearted moan or friendly chat. Nothing is meant by it and i am not bothered by how people view my dogs, i just thought it would be an interesting topic to get people swapping stories. Which i tought this forum was for but maybe i am wrong on that!

That said i am going to stick to the other parts of the forum for a few days as this part is driving me nuts! X

The same could be said about any thread discussing a personal experience - any experience throughout the whole of this site couldn't it? It happened get over it! Maybe you smell!? maybe we could copy and paste that on to all threads and save everyone the effort of typing any responses at all?

Yes it could but I wasnt the person moaning about it...

It did happen..but I have nothing to get over

Maybe I do smell but I don't complain if people walk the other way..In fact I prefer it so whats your point??

Maybe we could.. It would be the like repetitive evasiveness of the NI

My point is that people mention or 'moan' about all sorts on here and I don't see this thread as any different...Maybe you prefer it if people walk away from you - maybe it was something that the op felt a bit uncomfortable with - it's not about you! Most of the posts I read on here describing some situation or another, I don't empathise with if I can't relate - it happens, but people are still entitled to make those posts.

And people's thoughts on breeders not answering the questions being put to them should have no influence on a thread started by a pet owner, a thread which maybe a year or two ago would have been just fine - you can't tarnish every thread with the same brush.

To be fair a number of other people have joined in with their experiences of this with GSD'd / Rotties / Big Bull Breeds. Do they all have a victim complex as well?

Knowing that the look of your dog might scare / elicit a negative response from the GP doesn't mean you will find it any less disappointing and the OP is perfectly within her rights to have a bit of a moan if she wants to.

I've read plenty of these types of posts in the past about other breeds (staffies spring to mind) without the thread degenerating into a sniping match which seems to have more to do with previous issues/posts than the actual point in question.

So re the original point - I think the only thing you can do is make sure your dog is well behaved and doesn't give anyone a reason to run away / be afraid. Beyond that you cannot control peoples perceptions or actions so just try not to let it get to you I guess! I do think it is a general "big dog" issue as well - not helped by people who do let their big dogs run riot.

I totally agree with you Jo and have adopted that attitude since I got my foster staffy I've even had people pick up their dogs and walk away from Bryan (he's a fox terrier x whippet so he's pretty small).
