I think maybe you should read up on your breed of dog!!! And the "due to become KC recognised" that is a long way off yet!
cheers thanks for that to be fair she isn't my dog but my mums i just look after her a great deal and the information i know is what the lady who breed her has told me and what iv read up but yes i don't know it all and i don't pretend to my dog may be very different to other Inuits as she has more gsd in her that's the reason she was not wanted and ended up with idiots that lived in a FLAT!!!! she came to us with some serious problems my advise is read up all you can on your breed but don't forget to learn about your dog as a dog not just a breed as they are all different!! but hey i could be wrong again....p.s im not really believing the wolf mating thing my self, its a bit of an urban legend!!! she does like a scruff bag here lol!!!!
People are split on this part.. personally I beleive it was just hype to sell them to unsuspecting owers..I also beleive it was on TV that they were wolf hybrids but as soon as DEFRA etc became involved they backtracked and said there wasn't any wolf in them
Most of the breed info I can find suggests that there were wolf dog hybrids used in the early days of the breeding but that this practice has stopped now and they concentrate on mixing Husky, Malamute and GSD. I only discovered this breed on the dogsey forums too, so what I know is from websites... The wikipedia entry seems to agree with most of the kennel information I have found anyway. It's a possibility that you have an NI, but what is most important is that you have a stunning dog that you would love no matter what it was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Inuit_dog
They wont get KC recognition, and I think with NIs you have to base wether to get one on the individual dog as not enough confirmed info out there.
Hayley I think your dog looks like a white GSD.. The Wiki page has been questioned to death also and its probably all wrong too
I said that but it was apparently off topic and removed He does look very GSD but i do love his ginger freckles NI's are like any breed you have to make an enformed choice about where to get your dog from. If you just go out and get the first one you see without knowing the breed or breeder then there may be problems unless you are very lucky.
Yes as iv said we toke her in from a couple that couldn't look after her and only have ever spoken to her breeder Julie over the phone she has to much German shepherd in her but i can tell you that when she fell pregnant with our border collie the pups were black and white like him and brown white grey and black like the husky /malamute colours and some are now much bigger than Tara, IL post pics of them soon as they are very interesting. I have seen N.I just like Tara on a few breeders websites some seem to concentrait on different looks!! thank you all for your kind comments she is beautiful.
Can I ask why you let her have a litter? If the breeder is breeding pups with TOO much GSD in them then they aren't NI I wouldn't think
Hi yes iv just learned a little more on the subject of Tara's breeding from my mum as she is her dog, taras parents were bought by a man that had paid a lot of money for them and obviously didn't do much checking up on there parentage breed from them thinking he had northern Inuits but after the litter was born a lady from the N.I circle(don't know proper name )who breeds these dogs her self who's called Julie, came to see the puppies and told the man that they had 10 percent to much GSD in them so rendering them not northern Inuits that was 8 years ago ,now that breeders have mixed around a bit and made northern Inuit how they think they should be Tara isn't that unusual for a northern Inuit, but i suppose she is just a mongrel if you think about it she is just GSD husky x malamute but hey we love her.tara and badgers puppies had nothing to do with me i was only about 18 at the time but i will say I'm against the breeding of dogs by a novice that isn't a credited breeder (but the pups were gorgeous and all went to good homes and we are in contact with them all)
