Melzy, could you please try and put some punctuation into your posts? I'm finding them difficult to read, and they may be coming across as aggressive because of this omission. Thank you.

    I think so.

To me a cage sounds like a form of punishment, whereas a crate does not :D

Its like the "choke" "check" "slip" chain!!!!! all the same thing! cruel if used INcorrectly!!

With cages, its just the lingo i use, ie "van caged out" etc

I also tend to cal them cages and always have, because to be perfectly honest, that is exactly what they are. Crate is just a sanitised word for cage. A cage is a cage.
I use them too and have no problem with them if they are used correctly.

I have no problem with them either :D Lennon has one - I just call them crates, not cages.

I also call those collars check, not choke :D

I think commenting on melzy calling it a cage and not a crate is way out of order. A lot of people call them cages. It's just another word for the same thing. I think melzy has suffered enough flak on this thread without being picked up on such silly stupid things as this.

How funny that we see things so differently.

I don't "see" Melzy being picked on in this thread at all.

I see Melzy being given good advice, and on the whole, objecting to it....

I have to say Vicki, I disagree with you on this one, all I can see here is a new member who has posted several threads about wanting a BC pup, asking questions and asking for advice about really sensible stuff. She is researching her pup well and doesn't want to get one before the summer. I think the initial post was made out of frustration at not being able to find the right breeder and pup for her. I can understand that having just been through the finding a breeder stuff recently. All I can see on this thread is her being shot down for it. Here's someone who is doing something we are all always saying people shoudl do, research and ask questions and she is getting very little help and a lot of flack. It's a real shame. :(
Not having a go at you Vicki, just a bit shocked by the whole of this thread really.

I disagree, Melzy came on for advice, she has got some good advice which I am sure she will take on board, but some members have come across as less than friendly. But when it comes to criticizing for calling an item by a different name than some do, I don't feel there is the need for it. And I see that as being picked on.

Melzy here is my advice to you, calm down, stop being so aggressive and defensive and you will get on a lot better. The reason I stated how far I travelled for my girls is from what I read you don't think you can travel because you don't have a car. My point was, I don't have a car either, it is not the be all and end all.

I would suggest you go to some flyball or agility shows and talk to the people there and tell them you are looking for a pup in the late summer and tell them you are looking for a breeder. You will get TONNES of advice I assure you. Then you need to ring the breeders, not email them, and have a chat about the dogs. You have time now to make a good friend in a breeder before the pups are born and this is a godsend.

Just stop being so argumentative here, people are trying to help you and are getting frustrated as you seem to think everyone is picking at you when they are not. We are trying to advise you from our own experiences, no one is competing for anything.

I felt she was argumentative toward me when I said I travelled for my girls, on 2 occasions suggesting people were competeing (but hey if you want to compete Becky imported her poodles!) and toward Malady when she asked what she wanted the crate for, there was no need for those reactions toward posts intended to be helpful. All Malady asked was what did she want the crate for as to help her determine which size she would need (as Melzy asked) and she got a cocky/sarcastic comment back. I think people are getting frustrated as she doesn't seem to be acting on the advice given.

I think they are defensive but I think in a lot of cases she is being overly defensive where she doesn't need to be. JMO

Yes, perhaps, but that's because of some of the responses she's had I think. She just wants a well bred pup and she seems to have ahd the Spanish inquisition. To be honest (and no offence Malady) when I read the 'it depends what you want it for' response to her crate question I thought Malady was having a go (no offence JMO) because of previous posts...
The troubel with the internet is no one knows the intention behind posts do they?
