but i got him from a home and i'm pretty sure there where no pure breeds even the home ask for large amounts of money if its pure.. not just the vaccinations and stuff that i paid for when getting him

i can't figure out how to upload pictures it keeps asking for a http.. i will do soon tho and again thank you and i hope i haven't offended you..

Can I just say that the chances of you replicating your dog are very very slim in a cross. You may have the dog that got the best of traits from both breeds but any puppy of his could end up with the worst traits of the breeds involved.

No i merely mentioned that i would not mind another like him.. i am aware that it is almost impossible yet people get stuck thinking other people are stupid enough to think like that .. we can safely assume if i was that stupid i would not be here typing .. and again thank you

He is a smart looking dog. Be happy with him, and forget breeding from him, He's delightful :D

I do not believe this, we have cockadoodles, springadoodles, labradoodles, etc, etc,

Now we've got a malarott, good god, where will it all end.

He's a super looking dog Katchone - and welcome to Dogsey :)

I think most people are just trying to say, that you have been lucky with your dog, and that cross breeding can really be a bit of a lottery. That is an important consideration when the breeds being crossed have conflicting traits. For eg, Rotties can be very dominant, yet they are generally easy to train (if you are an experienced owner) - yet Mals are hard to train and can have a mind of their own! Put the two together and you could end up with a recipe for disaster (eg a dominant dog that's very hard to train)

The only way to get a dog similar to your own would be to repeat the cross of his parents - but even then the chances are slim because there is a massive scope in DNA that could allow for millions of different pups, what's the chances of one being just like yours, again?

With regards to breeding here is a general article about it, it's our most read article:

Thinking about breeding? Think about this...

The only person here used that tag is you Nero - the OP never once said that's what he bought or was 'marketed' ;)

It's Malamute x Rottweiller cross Azz, what other tag could it have ? and as some other posters have said, not an ideal combination.

Why invent a 'designer' label for it anyway? Especially if you are against the idea - you could just be putting ideas in peoples heads :101:

I would just call it a crossbreed, which is what it is to me.

My point is that you will never get another like him. Even if you repeated the mating that caused him to be here every pup will be different. If you want another cross bred dog then go to a rescue. Plenty to chose from there.

What a noble looking dog.I understand what you mean about falling lucky with a crossbreed. We got Fudge from a rescue at 8 weeks old. If i could have another of the same mix and temperament I would get one in an shot. She is a wonderful dog and we are truly lucky to have the one and only.........I think you too have landed on your feet .

I think you need to meet some nicely bred male Mals...I know quite a few that are way bigger and wider in the head and body than a rotty..

The overall size / height may not be much different but the builds are, especially skull shape, and its not just about size, its conformation - the two together are a very bad `match` imo.
