Well as most of you know I rescued a Rottie bitch back in the summer called Skye, and when we got her she had received very limited training, but now six months later and after alot of hard work I have got her to respond to 15 verbal commands.(Not including a few swear words I might add). Plus I have got her to do most of these with the dodes all in a line, so if I say sit, I now get 6 bums hit the deck all at the same time. These are the commands she knows. Sit (solid sit) Wait Stand Down (down position) Heel (on lead) Paw Leave No In (use for the garden or van) Out (use for the garden or van) Up (Gets up on something) Get off (Gets off the couch) Here (recall) Move (when she randomly stop walking) Go to bed So my question to all of you Rottie owners is how many commands does your Rottie dog or bitch know? My other question is, has your Rottie ever lunged at another dog or person? The reason I've asked that question is because that seems to be what people expect them to do, when we all know this is just not the case when properly trained.
1}st Vinnie rott,, limited savy,,well dumb as feck to be honest,,,but very lovable, all comands carefuly thought about then followed about 30seconds later,,not the fastest thinker on the planet, lol close Sit Down Come Back {stand} Walk back out {spit something out of mouth } Tip {right paw} tap {left paw} who did it {look guilty and hide}
3rd} Kaos Control{ sit/ down/ stand} healwork - close/ heal/ back/ in/ come up sendaway,,, Away wait,,stand still while walking Normal stuff Sit Down Stand back up walk back, spin bow wave {with both paws} touch face both{beg} out {drop something} Attack commands {not telling you lot them } Stay seek search back off {keep someone stood still without attacking} watch me In front, straight hold off ping {jump on something} over {jump over someting} through {go through something} under {creep under something} to me { go over obsitcal when im at the other side} some hand signals, too cant think of anymore at the mo,x
The four of mine get basically the same commands. In tight - when walking and I want them closer to me. Inside - when out in the garden or to get them in the car. This way - if they dicide to go in a different direction from me. wait - when I want them to stop. Steady - at a kerbside waiting to cross the road. Walk on - when I want them to cross the road. Backup - when I want them to move backwards. And shut the F up - when I want them to stop barking. Smeags does a special, "hide that ugly face", she then puts a paw over her face to hide it.

My boy Marius is 14mths old and loves going to obedience training classes and ringcraft. He has never, ever lunged at either a dog or a person. He is very sociable with all animals and people, a very happy boy who loves life. He has passed his Bronze and Silver KC Good Citizen and are working towards the Gold. I show him and so he allows strangers to go over him and look at his teeth etc - makes vet visits easier too! He knows the following:- Sit Down Back (stand) Back Up (move backwards into show pose) Stay Wait Watch (means watch me all the time) Look (look at where I point to) Heel Heel Round (do the finish position for obedience) Close (turn right) In (turn Left) - for obedience heelwork Hold Give Leave Fetch Steady Trot On (used for gaiting for show purposes) Seek (to do a search) Teeth (allow judge to see teeth - he shuts his mouth for it) Under Over Up Spin Paw High Five Hurry Up (have a pee/poop!! Very handy command lol ) Push (to open door) Touch (to nudge with nose) Quite a few huh!!!
Asta is not as advanced as Kizzy but she's working on it and trying to be as smart as her, 1.Sit 2.Stay 3.Down 4.Wait,road 5.Cross,road 6.Paw 7.Touch(high ten) 8.Up 9.Off 10.Spin 11.Quiet 12.Leave 13.Fetch 14.Come 15.In 16.Out 17.Stand 18.Walk back 19.No 20.Go see I'm sure there are more and no doubt there will be more in future as she's still young. Forgot to say Asta went through a phase not so much as lunging more telling the hyper dogs to p1ss off and leave her alone,she's got past all that now though.As for people she doesn't lunge at them but she will try to pull me over to them to say hello as she is soooo nosey and wants to meet everyone she comes across,xxxxxxxx
Shut the F up (when they are barking for no reason either in the house or garden) Either f-off or P-off depending on my mood (When they try to get on my lap while I'm on the computer). My apologises as I forgot all about them. Heres the old girl as shes now 8-years old.
Great pics Denis, looking great as ever This is Marius taken today at Ennerdale Lake (more are on Dog Pics section if you want to see them, be warned there are a few lol ) I like this one
Anne-Marie, I think there's a strong resemblance between Marius and Asta, they look so alike it's uncanny, especially in some of the head shots you post.
