she def looks like shes got a good shot of grey in her, mines a greyxsaluki and her ears are exactly the same, my shaymus genrally has his ears folded back but when they come forward all floppy and cute they are identical to shadows, couldent say what else shes got in her but she is very beautiful and looking at those lovley long legs she will be able to run like the wind pretty soon.
i have made some enquiries and it seems that the parents are as follows, sire is a bull terrier cross and the dam is a greyhound cross lurcher so thanks for all your kind comments. my son walks the dog and people are always saying is your dog a whippet cross. so she defo has hunting bloodlines in there anyway thanks again to all of you wonderfull people out there,martync1967.
Yep! Looks like lab/whippet or maybe a lab/lurcher Oh, just seen your newest post...well, I was close!! : )
I always thought lurcher was the name of a sighthound crossbreed? Is it something else? I ask because I keep seeing "lurcher x" and I don't get it! I do think she is a sighthound cross. My guess would be with a border collie, but she's massive! So maybe something a bit bigger would be more accurate.
Technically , I believe a 'lurcher' is a herding (pastoral dog eg BC) crossed with a sighthound. A sighthound crossed with another is a sighthound cross ie a 'longdog' . She looks sighthound x lab to me, but I'm not sure what that is called! Mary
Yes a Lurcher is a sight hound x working dog and a Longdog is a sight hound x sight hound. So a Lurcher cross is a dog of more than two breeds, ehem dare I say a cross breed. Cos really that is all a Lurcher is, as much as I love em and have owned 3.
Well there you go!! Thanks for that information, committed to memory. So a sighthound x SOMETHING is just a crossbred then? Never heard 'long dog' before, so thanks. We're very educational here.
