The Show Sec is planning her schedule for the 2008 Virtual Show and the crossbreed classes tend to not be very full so to help me plan ahead, how many crossbreeds are there currently on Dogsey ? Please lets see them, and please indicate the crossing if known so that I can consider which Lurcher classes to run as well ;-) I`ll start off with mine, Lurcher BC x JRT [ I`ll be going through classes which have already run as well for any I don`t recognise straightaway and will post their pics here to see if they are current to give me an idea on numbers for potential class sizes ] New members please do post your crossbreeds too, don`t be shy
You know mine so a quick pic Both 1st Cross. Skye = Old English Sheepdog X Deerhound. Is he a Lurcher...well that seems to be up for discussion. Breagh = Black Lab X Pointer.
Skye is definitely a Lurcher When I met up with a Lurcher expert, [ from Lurcherworld, and he is involved in the Lurcher and Terrier classes and displays at Heritage events ], to whom I introduced my Fluke, I did mention a discussion which was going on here at the time about what constitutes a Lurcher - by his definitions, as well as mine and by many others, Skye is a Lurcher so don`t let anyone tell you different ;-)
You're right Patch - he is (by definition) a lurcher BUT is he a typical lurcher = a dog that would do the job of a lurcher ? Hmm He's a bit on the heavy side. Fox, no problem, rabit or hare.......he'd struggle a bit now. His chase instinct (as a cat owner) was very easily 'broken'. In a straight line he's quick. In the bends he's not bad but he's not as quick as he was. He's just my big special boy either way.
My Fluke - fast as the wind, can turn on a sixpence - and would rather snuggle up to a small furry, including cats, for a snooze than chase them Or to put it another way regarding whether or not a dog is what they are by blood depending on if they can / would do their `job - if a Border Collie does`nt herd, does that stop him being a Border Collie - case well and truly rested I think ;-)
I do agree - but sometimes by big boy just lumbers about and i thing ....Nah ! He IS a lurcher in the same way Fingal IS a gundog LOL
I've a picture for you ............... You might not see Tip 'in' Honey as I only have one picture but I certainly see Honey 'in' Tip. Where it all began for me......... Tip - The first dog I knew and grew up with 1974 - 1988 (ish) [/IMG]
Archie is a Weste * Bichon, or a Roggie Doggie....or a little sod! ill stop there.............or ill go on forever!!!
This is Sally - she is a lab / collie. She has all the water needs of a labrador (thinks she is a seal) and worries like a collie......... or is it a cauli ??
Here are mine: We have Willow who is an Akita x GSD Meeka, who is a GSD x (were told with a N I but I'm not convinced ) And lastly, Meeks brother Storm who is obviously a GSD x too
you know i don`t need much encouragement to post pics of my ickle girl... Mia.. Lhasa Apso x Miniature Longhaired Dachshund
Lovely pictures guys and all your doglets are gorgeous please keep posting folks I love all your pictures
Mack GSD x Utonagan, Mum full Utonagan , Dad GSD x Utonagan . My teenage tearaway:smt049:smt049 Beautiful dogs everyone
Fantastic pics, keep `em coming If there is the same pic posting enthusiasm for future crossbreed classes in the Virtual Show, the Show Sec might decide to include lots more classes for them - could do with seeing a few more lovelies here first to help me decide how many classes to offer - any excuse to see more pics like the fab ones which have been posted so far Oh, there is one who was in a class which I don`t recognise - anyone claiming this beauty ? Still a current member ?
