Probably the sensible thing to do in the circumstances.

We think so too, as she gets older her instincts are really at the fore, Hubby keeps her focused (at all times) by the BALL THROWING and this is the only thing she see's now when out.....keeps her mind off it.
Even over Sutton Park, there are cattle, if she is not occupied, she's down and travelling in and rounding them up.......BIG sorry to the cattle owner.....so we are really aware of her capabilities. We have been asked by someone else when we went to Lincolnshire a few weeks back, he offered to buy her................but she's priceless. Thankfully, Reah has no interest in rounding anything up, and at the moment Bruce is showing no interest either, although his 'papa' is a working dog. problem with Skye she has both parents working

I used to get the impression it was a dominance thing, as I saw it when Kali went for a walk with his brother Merlin. Kali used to go "ape" if Merlin got in front - and he, Kali, had always been the "boss puppy" of the litter. Then he started getting awkward at people who were in front of him
Now that his old age is coming on him, he doesn't seem to be all that bothered.

All of mine do it to each other but not usually to other dogs although Kel will occasionally try it's only with those that he knows really well, as soon as they are in front its a quick turn around and stalk and stare, other dogs don't really like this as it unnerves them so I don't really allow it and stop him as soon as he starts. They don't do it to people although kel has been known to nip around the back of me and nip my legs but that's when I have been winding him up and pretending to kick an imaginary ball:blush: I call it "control freak" syndrome and I think it is a collie thing as they do tend to have that element of controlling behaviour combined with the herding instinct. Sol is the funniest as he is all chilled out at home until deef gets up and goes out the door and then he is chasing after him to see what he is doing and once he knows he will then relax until the next time he moves and its the same again, I get the same reaction if I decide to move too He has to know what is going on at all times and he likes us all to be together, on a walk deef always goes wide and ahead and kel likes to be closer to me so sol spends his time charging between the two trying to get them a bit closer together and better organised. He has charged at deef a couple of times to get him to move and grabbed his scruff and pulled only to get knocked off his feet as deef turns to run seemingly oblivious to the fact that sol is even there:lol: Deef is top dog but sol will do this to both him and kel equally, he just likes to organise and if I don't keep as close as he would like he comes running back to me looking slightly frustrated before heading off and "organising" them again:roll: I don't mind this between us but I don't think it's acceptable for them to do it to other dogs or people so they don't, they are funny though as when we spot someone coming I call kel and sol back and tell deef down and he has been known to stay there while some over amorous dog has been trying to hump him and all he does is stare at us waiting for someone to move, he really is a typical obsessive (and apparently very sexy) collie:005: :005: :005:

If Kali and Snorri are out and off-lead near the house (unusual, because of the local livestock), Kali - who regards Snorri as being totally inferior - will simply push him into the ditch, preferably when it's full of really dirty water! The approach of older age has not made gentlemen out of them...................

I have seen kel charge at sol and when he jumped out of the way he fell in the stream...... I like to think it wasn't deliberate but Kel always looks really pleased with himself about it:077: He also rolls him over and sits on him biting his belly if he tries to talk to another dog or person as apparently that isn't allowed, sol is definitely bottom of the heap so it could be just kel asserting his authority over him:021: The obsessive need to get in front of each other though is different, it's as though they just have to do it and simply can't help themselves:p

I read Colliemad....nipping at back of ankles.....Oh! what memories that brought back. It took me along time to stop Skye from doing that to me (alot of little blood blisters too)    However if Skye is allowed to get borded (which God Forbid doesn't happen) when I next walk into the kitchen, Skye is in the 'down' position, eyes fixed.......as I walk in she scoots back and 'down' .......ALL five cats will be sitting in a corner.......    I don't tell her off but I do say NO, once released ALL cats look at me as if to say.....'We're not sheep' but Skye has a look of triumph.
Thats when you know 'it's time to give Skye something to do....so out we go!!!!!!!!!     Fortunately, now the cats do thier DAMNEST to stay up off the floor:lol:
But if we are out looking at shops....like in Tenby and York...it's Reah:shock:   who doesn't like us to part the Pack:shock:
