How much memorising does it take to see that the breed name is different?

Actually yes it was relevant at the time it was brought up as it is common knowledge that some british inuits do contain cwd. The discussion at the time was regarding this.

Ok here we go again, I was under the impretion that the original post was a question as to wether or not NI's Make good pets, so in answer to that original question putting all the other rubbish aside:-
I can say as an owner of 3 Ni dogs that i have found them to be very good & fun pets to own, not recommended for full time working people but if you work part time they are fine.
They do not like being left for long periods of time,as they see you as part of thier pack and get upset if you are missing for to long.

Yes as far as i am concerned they are good with children of all ages, but as with all dogs should not be left alone with small children unattended.

training is no problem however recall is sometimes if you are not religious with this training.

Mine are totally non agressive with people and other dogs.

I hope that this is a helpful discription of the NI dog breed.
    Thank you!!!

My god, no wonder this breed is doomed, all this negative energy, how on earth do you all (whether you are part of one group or the other) ever expect to unify a dog, and establish a breed when all you seem to do is b***h and back bite to each other.

It has been asked by others many times,(including myself) to explain the why and what notes of the breed, health and origins , but you are all just skipping over these facts....as for the OP , I think she is well out of it, I would look for another breed, where the breeders /owners, are willing to tell you all you want to know, who would want to be part of such unease and dislike between NI owners.

There seems to be a clear divide on what is the correct type, NI v ID, I think for all concerned, separate the breeds, and concentrate on your own.

As this has way taken over the OP query, maybe to you all , it would be a good idea to start a new thread on these dogs and list all the pro`s and cons, including the health /testing , for any newbie who is interested in the breed......because quiet Franky , if I was looking into the owning one of these dogs,.........I would run a mile:shock:

Strange you should opt for a NI then, as they have unpredictble Mal AND Sibe blood, which really means they are more likely to scarper than not ! Proven by the post below !

No different to a Mal or a Sibe !

Just like you were satisfied buying a pup from a person whos dogs were in allegedly squalid conditions and who couldnt afford to feed her Dam and pups, and they so satisfied with the horrors you faced, that you went back and bought from them again and paid up front !

It's also common knowledge that some NI contain CWD too !

I dont mean to sound like I'm digging Abbie, but reading back through this thread, almost everything you say, including the health queries, is either contradictory or most of it doesn't make sense. As an outsider reading what is being said, if I were looking for a NI, your posts alone would confuse me enough to say away and not want to get involved. You have been proven wrong about many things on this thread especially when you make claims that you then admit you knew nothing about, and if I wanted to do my own breed justice, I would not put myself in that positionn where it makes you look foolish. Just an observation.

Malady everything I have said on this thread is true and everything that I have said is also known by many others.

Which NI contain CWD as this is the first I have heard of it?

Dont know what you mean by which NI !!

I dont know lines etc, I just know of several kennels that use one between them and openly advertise the fact.

Right I know what you mean now. These dogs would not be registered with the NIS though.

What explanations? There has never been a denial that the same person has been convicted not once but twice for cruelty to animals and yet as a supposed animal lover you are prepared to gloss over that fact?

It seems odd to me that the only person who has presented any information, [ through various web searches ], regarding the original dogs, [ apparently strays of unknown breed or mixes ], is`nt an NI owner and not a member of any of the factions, [ that person being myself ;-) ], however no one from any of the factions has refuted that information so presumably its the truth - that the founder dogs could have been all sorts, that health status did`nt seem to be a factor among those founder dogs, and that ethically and morally those particular dogs should never have been used for breeding at all, let alone to start a new breed, including for the possibility of wolf content which rather than being categorically verified either way is used as a `proudly` held mystique :?

Does that cover all the bases ?
Will a founder breeder ever actually answer those points which have been asked and ignored repeatedly :?

And why do you think that matters ?

The dogs are advertised, sold and look like some Ni's, including looking like some from this forum !

Regardless of which club the owners are with, surely it's all classed as the same breed !

Are you now saying that some Ni's are in fact Not Ni's at all ? If so, how will anyone ever know which ones are Ni's and which ones aren't ?

Hi Running cloud :) Sorry, I can't actually see much helpful advice posted here....:?
.. this is a sample of advice from the Chairperson of the NIS , it is not particularly helpful :-(
here is some information on the health problems of NIs..
...and a request for health information from a NI person who recommends asking for information in another place but presumably didn't do so herself (or didn't get an answer,or she wouldn't be asking here)
..well here are a few answers about the origins and health of NI.

I was searching the internet the other day for info on Inuits to help Lucy (I use the name Inuits to cover all the separate factions) something like a Code of Ethics for breeders/what health problems there are in the breed /who to contact for a list of approved breeders/who to talk to about health testing /where to go for backup if someone buys an Inuit puppy and it has problems. In my search I came across some information (it was out in the open, I didn't need to join anything to see it) written by one of the founder members of the breed about the beginnings of the breed in which she states...
it appears Utonagons and Inuits started out as one breed in somewhat confused circumstances . Founder members of the breed(s) were aware of the necessity for health testing 'in the early ninety's' but having discovered it wasn't possible to have the hips scored at that time went ahead with the breeding this 'new' breed anyway using dogs originally from from breeds with some existing health problems knowing that the progeny couldn't be health tested at that time and before being bred from.

In the same place I found this item about another breeder...
..so it would seem some people are in the know about possible and existing health problems which might affect the breed although they are reluctant to talk about it here .I can't say if the details are true or not, perhaps someone will enlighten us...

What has this got to do with me, well apart from having concerns about the welfare of all dogs I note a large number of Inuit puppies are being born (you can see them advertised all over he place and large litters too) and I am starting to hear from people who have Inuits with health problems and nowhere to turn for help. Established breeds have Codes of ethics for breeder and approved breeders list, this at least offers some prospect of redress to people who buy puppies then encounter health problems. The Inuit breeders are divided and can't agree among themselves so what help can they give to prospective purchasers and those who the purchased puppies then encounter health problems.

Added. this post is not off topic, the OP also asked about the health of the breed ...
